Probably a bit of a long shot but we sold Jamie Murphy in August 2015 to Brighton and he signed a four-year deal. They've now been promoted and will probably win the league. Could we be due a chunk of change as an add-on?

I remember we got 500k from Swansea when they went up for Leon Britton, though circumstances were different wouldn't surprise me if we got something though doubt it will be north of 100k so not exactly a game changing amount.

Hope he does well in the PL and gets called up for Scotland, certainly deserves it so....good luck to the lad

Not good enough . Will be surplus to requirements . Good championship player

Tells us everything . He will not play in the premiership . Do we need to have a punt on him.

He turns up in the big games, certainly caused PL sides all sorts of problems in our cup runs. Will certainly get a chance, he sort of reminds me of Robert Snodgrass in a way. As good a player as he is where would he fit in our system? A loan deal in January if things don't work out wouldn't be unthinkable

He's been a name that I've thought of all season that if we go up we should look at Murphy. But, I think Murphy will do everything he can to break into their first team next season even if he knows that he won't start I would guess he'll want to be a part of their squad at the start of the season and then maybe if he is really struggling for game time he and Brighton would consider a loan move for the second half of the season.

Also as good as Murphy is, I think we can get as good a player for less or a similar fee that is younger. Only guess work of course, but Marcus Maddison would be a decent bet and would probably cost us £2m.

We need players who turn up week in week out not just in big games . Let the fucker go to second rate team like Derby .

Big NO thanks .

£100k-£200k from Brighton would be well received as an add-on. Murphy was always too good for League one.

He is a quality skillful player who can play out wide. We don't really have a player like him of that ilk. If anyone can get him to play consistently it's Wilder, that said certainly not fawning over him returning. I think because we've done so well this season people view us capable of sniffing at certain players, there will be a significant step up in difficulty next year and I anticipate a few nasty surprises. Players will Murphy will help bridge that gap

He's already been a bit of a bench player this season, so he could well be banished to the reserves or on his bike

Tell em to keep the add on we might be due and just send him back to us. That's a fair owd swap :)

So would you not have Murphy back? I would....

I don't know in truth Jordo. Absolutely he was a cracking player for us who moved on with his career and life. Obviously the only person that matters regarding resigning Murphy or any former player is Wilder.
I think it's fair to say our track record in this area isn't very good.
Maybe moving on is best. We will be in the position of looking at a decent standard of player in the summer.
I'm fine with what Wilder wants.

I'm not usually a big fan of ex-players coming back but wouldn't say no to Murphy. Still only 27, definitely
championship standard and Wilder working with him

I was thinking more along the lines of.. "He's not getting a game next season, gerrim back"

I don't think Murphy has the attitude or energy to play the way we have been, that Swindon game that Harris was constantly double-teamed in was partly down to Murphy's lack of tracking back leaving him exposed. If we change system then he has definite attacking quality, but with the amount of time it took him just to adapt to the step up from Scottish Prem to League 1, I'm not sure he'd instantly fit in with the Wilder work-ethic.

I'm trying to pinpoint the moment this thread turned from asking about any add-ons from the fee we got for him to one asking if people would want to re-sign him.

I do hope so. We love nostalgia, and I can't think of anything better this summer than to have a re-run of the "What have we done with the Murphy moolah?" thread. If it ends up being spent on repairs to the pitch after the damage caused by the end-of-season pitch invasion, this forum may go into meltdown.
