It would be the straw that breaks the camels back for me, if we can't keep Murphy who has just signed a long contract with us there is no point in supporting the club.
I keep thinking that every time i feel that knife in my back twist. God knows why, but I keep coming back. Sometimes I even believe we'll get it right!

He's a good player but wouldn't be too upset if he went, he's very inconsistent.
Yeah you're right. I mean we'll easily be able to sign a winger better and more consistent than him to replace him won't we?
I mean we've always replaced our best players when we sell them with equal or greater quality and that's why we find ourselves here in the premier league challenging at the top with the creme de la crem.

Oh wait...

I know what you mean, the problem is we wouldn't replace him with someone as good or better. I just don't rate any of our players that much that I wouldn't care if any of them went.

Can someone tell me why activity on Twitter leads some of us to draw the conclusion that something is actually going to happen?

Does Twitter actually have any influence on anything that's worthy of being called important or relevant?

Why, if Twitter is important, don't we learn of world events there first? Is it just football that allows fans of the game to lose the plot and believe every trite, throwaway comment that gets posted?

Not sure how far you go back, but for those of us who grieved for Mick Jones and everyone since, I'll get over Jamie Murphy, good player though he is.

I think because he was left out of the squad on Tuesday with no mention of injury folk are a bit dubious. I guess we'll know tomorrow when we see the team sheet.

He's probably missing Clough, seeing as though he got the best out of him....

With the inference that after one meaningful game the new manager isn't getting the best out of him.
Nothing like giving the new manager a chance is there.
Blind loyalty,
You couldn't make it up.

Ah, long passages of sarcasm. Very clever.

We can't adequately replace Murphy while we're in the third division, he could play in a higher league. Unfortunately we're going nowhere for a long time. We're established, just like the rest of the boring cloth cutting fuckers we play against.

...Murphy?

I am in no doubt that selling your star performers at the very start of the season (with sod all time to replace them) and languishing in this division are directly linked - it's not bloody rocket science. You cannot afford to keep selling your best players year on year and failing to replace them, whilst still espousing aspirations of promotion. It just does not work. If the board are genuinely ambitious, if they are truly serious about promotion then they (for once in a bloody long while) need to do the best by Sheffield United. That is to sign the players we need and hang on to the key players that we have.

Maybe I should also talk in the board's language? Money. Snatching a quick cheque from such chuffing dire clubs as Brighton or in recent years Hull (sigh) represents naff all in comparison to the money available for promotion. Want more money? Keep your best players and try to go up.

The squad is already dreadfully imbalanced and lacking in key areas, don't go and create added weaknesses in one of the the only areas we are strong.

What will be will be......I just don't get why an absence is treated with doom and gloom? Maybe there was a reason for Murphy's absence that isn't being shared with the supporters? If he leaves, que sera, but I wish some of us wouldn't jump to the most negative conclusion just because of a rumour.

I'd add Blackman to that list too. Not saying he was amazeballs but he was looking like our biggest asset at the time so he just had to go...

Aye, I had initially mate. I then edited it - I was going for the angle of those sold just before the start of the season. I agree though!

I am sick and tired though of the board talking the talk "we want promotion, the club deserves it", but then carrying out actions that are likely to lead to anything other than promotion! I am sick of said same board repeating phrases like "cutting our cloth accordingly" and signing lesser replacements, whilst still feigning the ambition for promotion. Selling Murphy and bloody replacing him with my Nan on the left flank just doesn't scream promotion, does it?

Set of bleeding chuff nuts.

Be gutted if we lost Murph. So often the difference between our shit and their shit.

He's got to go. He gives us hope that we're going to be something more than an established third division side. That's what kills you. The sooner we accept that we're a Walsall/Gillingham/Swindon club the better.

What's your nan's injury record like?

Never had much negativity at all regarding the Blades, even with things being as shit as they have been. I really expected better times on their way. Bloody hope tomorrow brings me back round.

From Twitter...

@SkyBetChampo: Brighton are poised to complete the signing of Jamie Murphy from Sheffield United, according to Sky Sources.

Could be usual Twitter BS

For what its worth, lots of rumours on Twatter saying he is having his medical at Brighton this morning before completing a £2.2m deal.

Could be total crap......

I'd like to think that I'm very much the same, mate. I'm not typically a negative poster, far from it. But, if history were to repeat itself, I'd find it hard to be cheery. Gives me that same gut wrenching twinge that I got as a young lad when we flogged Deano and Fjortoft.

P.s. Shocking - she had two replacement hips. Had being the operative word, she passed away 11 years ago. :(

Murphy travelled to Morecombe but didn't play, if RS were correct at the time.
