No one, me, you, or any other poster, can know what will happen. If Murphy is sold, adopting a position of 'told you so' doesn't actually prove anything. If he stays then that in itself refutes your fatalist position. The fact that a player is sold is dependent on various factors, so jumping to the conclusion that it's a case of the same old limp wristed response tells us nothing. We all draw conclusions, often to confirm our own prejudices, so I'd prefer to give the board the benefit of the doubt as they're now showing a resolve that has been lacking in years gone by.

I sense you're not accepting its over. I wont be saying I told you so, its not a competition to see who ends up being right. I am simply displaying knowledge of how we respond to bids.

I think this could depend on what Murphy wants to do personally mate, if he wants to go there's no stopping him, if he wants to stay we'll keep him and not sell to the highest bidder, that's how i see this one but i do know where you're coming from.

And I'm not suggesting that historically we haven't shown the necessary spine to resist offers or accept an offer which often fell short of a correct valuation.

What I am suggesting is that with the Prince on board we're now showing more than the country cousin attitude that was once our default position. There's a determination within the club to move forward, which means attaining promotion. If a player is sold it will because the reasons behind a sale aren't dependent on becoming glossy eyed when another club flashes their chequebook.

Its over!!! Yes lets hope so mate.

It surprises me on that Twitter page how many favourites and retweets we have in comparison to stories related to clubs in higher leagues than us. I know we are bigger than this division and should be a top end championship side but I really do believe that we have a Premiership size fan base. This is based on other stuff too.
Also, Quinn is going to be out of contract? Surprised Hull are letting him go given that they've dropped a division.

Bringimback.

We are all agreed that we need an infusion of height power and pace...well, except for Little Louis....okay we need pace, power and athleticism but got to find a place for him, what with all those goals and assists..oh and Big Tel...yeah, we need more height, but we clearly must make room for one of the smallest centre-backs with the dodgiest knees in the league.. We'll compensate with more height elsewhere....Hang on - Bladey Billy, He may be 5-9 and slow but we can make an exception for him...but apart from those three, we simply must have more power pace and athleticism....just a minute, could Stephen Quinn be available? We have to Gerrimin...but definitely, absolutely.... apart from those four we really must have more power, pace and athleticism...it really is essential....Shit, just remembered, Diego....he has to be given a run....his daft dad told me....Yes, right, but apart from those five we are crying out for more p......

There is something seriously wrong with you. Your one cell must be lonely today.

I think we have a fairly decent global following.

Not massive like the S6 MASSIVE like to think though.

Just get Murphy sold for Christ's sake, we know it's going to happen so we might as well do it now and get it over with so we can plan for it.

Rather that than another Maguire/McDonald fiasco.

I have faith in Adkins when he says that any good manager "doesn't make a habit of selling the better players", I honestly think that Adkins rates him highly and will do everything that he possibly can to keep him at the club.

Murphy has a bunch of mates at the club from north or the border and he has a young baby as well does he not so a move all the way down to Brighton might not be at the top of his agenda.

I personally don't think there is much in it and expect Murphy to be wearing a Sheffield United shirt at Christmas bare minimum.

Literally the only player I feel is worth keeping. Get rid of him and we might as well purchase a whole new 11 for next season.

FFS Brighton and Hove Albion were ,not so long ago ,so far down in the results list that ,I could eat my tea after our result before theirs came out.

Shows just how far we have fallen

Bristol wasn't that good we walked straight through them at their place and next season will prove me right when they come straight back down.
Most of their side consisted of championship rejects and if they don't invest dramatically it will be embarrassing for them.
Adkins will instil an attack minded squad this season and the players I have mentioned will flourish under this manager

Speaking with a Saints for ever supporter, I learned that Mr Adkins is very astute in borrowing players who can play box to box.. I hope that that is so, and ,that he can match Clough's signings in that respect. His record at Saints would suggest that he can.

Is it that simple?

A couple of grand a week extra and an opportunity to play at a higher level now, rather than 'perhaps' in a years time might suggest otherwise?

And for how long do you expect Brighton to be in a league above us.? Do you think, that in the medium term that they will be above us? I will nail my colours to the mast and say that I expect us to rise, and for them to sink back to whence they came.

Imo, Murphy lost his form around two months from the back end of last season, with some saying he's tired (awww)

I haven't seen him play this season so I can't comment, other than to say reports are that he hasn't yet picked up his early season sparkling form that we all know he has in his locker

It's time to step up to the plate young man and be worthy of the tag that this club and admiring other clubs place on you

yes he did appear to lose form towards the end - but that is what you get with L1 footballers - inconsistency.
Murphy seems to blow hot and cold, although to be fair - he was double marked a lot last season - but what we didn't do was exploit the double marking as it left space elsewhere.

Think he also started slow last season too - but yes, time to step up to the plate regularly.

UTB

No mention of him being injured in Adkins latest interview so if he's not in the squad tomorrow, I would imagine that's that.

This has all the hallmarks of a classic player sale by United.

Not if the 18 for Tuesday and Adkins comprehensively goes through the injured list with no mention of Murphy.

As always it is about how we replace players and our recent track record is poor.

It might give us some money to secure a decent loan but we do have several positions still to fix.

I like Murphy, he's a good player but maybe goes missing too much.
