Would be odd starting Berge if he was leaving.

Just wish we wouldn't continue to ignore CF. It's madness. We're so close, just need to reach out and take it ......

He’s left footed, suspect he’s seen as being able to play on the left side of the midfield 3 or as a 10. Unsure whether he could play in a 2 but wouldn’t mind seeing Berge sitting whilst having McAtee next to him with Khadra and Ndiaye in front of them. Not saying it would definitely work but it sounds great.

Strength in depth…and we‘re starting with Stevens, Norwood and Fleck???
If we get Mcatee, and continue to play Norwood and Fleck I'll blow a piston.

Khadra, Doyle, Mcatee, Coulibaly, Ndiaye to fill up the central and attacking midfielders and we continue to pick the fraudsters.

Fwiw if YorkBlade says he's having a medical with us, then he's coming to us... unless he fails said medical

Entirely the wrong area of the pitch to be focussing on but OK.

Manchester City midfielder James McAtee has been named the Premier League 2 Player of the Season for 2021/22.

The 19-year-old scored 18 goals and provided seven assists in 23 matches to help his club win the PL2 Division 1 title.

The previous winners of the PL2 Player of the Season were Delap, Curtis Jones of Liverpool in 2019/20, Brighton & Hove Albion's Aaron Connolly in 2018/19, Arsenal's Reiss Nelson in 2017/18 and 🎉Oliver McBurnie🎉, now of Sheffield United, in 2016/17 with Swansea City.

Very illustrious company there, all 5

If anyone from the club is watching this thread. You’re welcome, and i’m available evenings and weekends 😉

Assuming we are in for him, you have to think we'd be in a good spot with Doyle at the club. Developing/continuing that relationship has got to be good for City. With that said, I assume Burnley will get first pick of all City talents
We also have John Gannon over at City who i know still has links with Utd at all levels of management, i dont know for sure but i think that’s how we might be in with City atm

Sander leaving then?

You can't maintain Berge Khadra Ndiaye McAtee if only 2 are playing

Ndiaye and Khadra would have to be perma subs

But whatever. Sign him anyway, change formation if we must

You can never have too much quality and last season showed us how easily our options can be depleted with a few injuries.

Having Ndiaye, Berge, Khadra and McAtee as attacking midfield options is not unmanageable, especially as 2 of those can also play as strikers, which we are short of.

We need 2 players for each position anyway so it’d be fine. Especially when they are flexible and can play other positions.

If McAtee comes then surely we can't play McAtee alongside Doyle with an average age of19.5! So maybe we'd be looking to just play with one striker up top and two attacking mids behind with Doyle and Fleck the most likely behind. I reaally think we need stronger competition than Osborn for Fleck who as good as he was is not the same player as he was two years ago.

Fleck - great servant - but why are we still including him in conversations . That’s why we need these new lads - not to support Fleck but to make sure he can play out his last couple of years in a team and at a level where he can add value to them and himself instead of Utd putting him in a position where he is on a hiding to nothing , gets slated and becomes vilified

Berge may look a different player alongside Doyle further back so then you'll have Berge Doyle CM, with khadra Ndiaye mcatee as 3 further forward

I don’t mind this idea on paper, however the lack of experience is frightening in your proposed idea - what would the average age be? 20?!

Not a million miles off 20 but oozes class if it did work
I mean Hansen said you can’t win anything with kids, and look what happened. I’m just unsure if we’d be able to get so many young flair players gelling in such a short space of time with no pre season

I can't imagine us playing McAtee in CM. He'd have license to roam like that guy on loan from Wolves did last season.
