Wat?

James Beattie is ready to snub the advances of Blackburn and Sheffield United and fight for his place at Stoke City.
The former England international has been left on the fringes of Stoke's first team following his infamous bust-up with manager Tony Pulis at Arsenal last December and has seen moves to Blackburn and Fulham flounder.
However, he insists the rift between him and Pulis is no more and that he is fully committed to playing for Stoke this season in the Premier League.

Pottering along: James Beattie is determined to stay at Stoke and fight for his place
Speaking exclusively to Sportsmail, Beattie said: 'Whatever happened between me and the manager has all been swept under the carpet now, it's history, we've moved on.
'I have heard all the reports of interest from Blackburn, Wolves, Wigan and Sheffield United but I want to stay at Stoke and I am happy to stay.

In the past: Beattie insists any differences between him and manager Tony Pulis are sorted
'I know there has been interest from Championship clubs but, while I'm flattered, I want to play in the Premier League. I last played in the championship two years ago and I don't really want to go back.
'The Premier League is what it's all about and I'm confident I can still ply my trade there - and with Stoke.
'Pre-season has gone well so far and I have figured in the games so the manager has certainly made me part of his plans.
'I'm working hard, I feel great and I definitely want to be part of the team for the first game of the season against Wolves.'
Beattie, 32, added: 'I am on 90 career Premier League goals and I believe I am capable of getting more for Stoke this season.
'I'm confident I can get another ten at least and get the century under my belt. The fans have been great to me at Stoke and I'd love to hit that 100 landmark and celebrate the occasion with them.'
Kevin Blackwell was among the crowd at Meadow Lane on Thursday night to see Beattie in action and had hoped to lure the player back to Sheffield United on loan.

Well if we can sneak a cheeky loan move for Beattie then we might just send the message out that we are serious about acheiving promotion.

...and become the James Beattie Show again? Nice memories, but we need to be a team not 1 star and 10 playing a supporting role...

I don't think 10 were playing a supporting role, having a player as good as that can only be a good thing in my eyes. It's up to the others to step up to the mark, not to have some sort of inferiority complex.

I'd have him back in an instant - 20 goals a season nailed on.

I can see where you're coming from, but the thing is that we played much more as a team (and got a higher points per game) after he'd gone than we did when he was here.

Anyway, who's to say we haven't got a 20 goal man in the squad already..? We might have two... ;)

I'd have him back, just to see if we could have a re-run of the 'Beattie and his alloys thread' on BU. One of the funniest threads i've ever read on a forum.

I think i'd do a little love wee in my pants if this came off! I would gladly marry Sir James of Beattie and never look at a woman again.

One flaw here though, we've sold Sharp so who's gonna run all over the pitch to get the ball to pass it to him?

Saw in the Daily Mail this morning that United and Blackburn are fighting it out for him. I really cant see it happening if I'm brutally honest but stranger things have happened.

It would be borderline orgasmic though!

I'd be way past borderline mate!

I would do an excited poo in my pants if Beattie signed. Even this wouldn't be enought for some folk tho! I can imagine them now, 'Oh beattie is shit, he's greedy, he is fat, he gets paid too much, he's too old, he scores too many penalties, his hair is too nice, it's a backward step, bla bla bla bla bla. Come Back JB. We need you!
