Left Oxford as he's not guaranteed first tram football, he's third choice there. Good signing as a back up but slow so needs some pace alongside.

This also suggests either Macfadzean ain't coming or Wilder doesn't think Semple is good enough cover.
I'd say it's confirmation Kilgallon isn't coming as surely we're not going to sign 3 left footed centre halves. It also actually provides hope that McFadzean is signing given Wilder has said he wants 4 CBs in total. I'm hoping he's going for O'Connell and McFadzean as first choice, with Wilson and Wright as back up. 2 left footers and 2 right.

Now first tram football would be an excellent sport..........:o)

Should be ok if he's only come as back up, on the face of it he doesn't seem an improvement on McEverley but at least he should be cheaper.

Sounds better to have around the dressing room. I've not heard one of McEveley's old clubs refer to him as a winner or a legend!

Must admit I'm concerned with the ages of some of these players.

Duffy - 30 - 3 year contract
Wright - 30 - 2 year contract
Wilson - 27 - ?
Hussey - 27 - ?
McFadzean - 29

I was hoping we'd carry on in the same vein after signing O'Connell and Fleck.

Got to find something to moan about I suppose. You can't have a team full of babies - we only had Brayford, Basham and Sharp who you could consider 'experienced' who we aren't looking to get shut of. Our 3 keepers combined are under the age of 60 ffs!

O'Connell and Fleck are the only ones on more than 2 year contracts.

We also need players with experience and the knowledge of what it takes to get a team promoted........ At least 3 in that list have been there done that

Yah win nowt wi kids !!

Wilder has said Basham's a centre mid and he doesn't seem to like square pegs in round holes very much. I have absolutely no doubt McFadz will be playing for us come September.

Well Danny looks like you are right and I am wrong another still to arrive

Apologies

"Wilder just confirmed he wants 4 CBs, hes brought 3 and seemed confident of a fourth. using when not if. was a little concerned Wilson/Wright maybe have been the 2nd CB but it would appear they're both back up and competition."

If they help us out of this division on relatively cheap wages Barney it will have been money well spent. Not every signing can be an up and coming player. As long as there's some fire in there belly I'm happy
Not every signing can be ones that are close to the end of their careers either.

We've signed more of them than we have up and coming so far.

Where did you read that pal?

That's because we have plenty of up and coming players and we need to complement them

So, Barney, 27 is coming to the end of their careers?

We signed very balanced players, age-wise. Two good young players who are at a perfect age to improve further or generate resale value, two lads who should be at their peak at 27 but are not old and two experienced players with know how who admittedly will no longer improve but are not past it yet either.

Good balance if you ask me.

The pre-season before 2002/2003 we signed Kenny, Onoura, Allison, Yates & McCall from what was the D1/D2 scrap heap at the time.

That year Warnock looked for cheap talent he had worked with, experience of the division and as always with Neil, players who wanted to win. All under a tight budget. We didn't do bad that year did we?

I get a sense of deja vu' with what Wilder is doing at the minute and I am encouraged...
Bit like Sir Dave , please let it be true , just don't tell Pinchy

Beat me too it

I think we'll see one more (right footed) centre half come in. After that I think he will try to shift a couple out and then bring two more in.....left side of midfield and up front seem like two areas he might strengthen.
