You say no Killa, but with 3 cb's signed I reckon there's no McFadz either. I'm guessing that's it in that position
You need 4 centre backs, just the same as you need 4 striker. This equates to having cover for every position on the field.

I think you're guessing wrong mate and will be quite happy that you are. When the squad numbers come out Number 5 will either be vacant or have a name on it, not yet here...

Has Magic Mike took you under his cloak?

Yes. He showed me his wand....then handed it to Max which I found a little disturbing....

Seriously, I am proudly non-ITK. I Just listen very carefully to what Managers and Assistant Managers say and read between the lines...

Not seen much of Max recently. Think the last I heard he was arguing with the Peterborough owner on Twitter.

Good signing if avoids injuries. The injury issues from last year make me think this is a gamble.

I suppose we had to take the heat out of the good news of yesterday.

what do you mean?
why would a new signing be taking the heat out as you say?

What do you know about him?
If you knwo so much about him you can give us your expert view as to why you think hes a bad signing?

Sounds better to have around the dressing room. I've not heard one of McEveley's old clubs refer to him as a winner or a legend!

McEveley has played at a higher level than Wright for his entire career, I doubt Wright would be called a legend and a winner had he done the same. I'm not saying we should have kept McEveley, I just think Wright won't be an improvement hence why I'm hoping he has been signed as back up only.

Anyway, I'll give him a fair chance like I do any new signing.

How many times have you seen him play?

He's a back up CB to O'Connell. Your Craig Short if you like. You're not going to get another up and comer or the quality of Killa to want to come and do that.

I am guessing wrong Pinchy and have said as much earlier by acknowledging that to Danny

Seems CW's Bladesplayer interview has said he's still after another cb which tbh I am happy about :)

Agreed, but still thought CW would go with 3 cb's at least in the short term. However, I am wrong and have said so in an earlier post to Danny and now replied to Pinchy saying the same, which is based on CW's interview on Bladesplayer

Well Danny looks like you are right and I am wrong another still to arrive

Apologies

"Wilder just confirmed he wants 4 CBs, hes brought 3 and seemed confident of a fourth. using when not if. was a little concerned Wilson/Wright maybe have been the 2nd CB but it would appear they're both back up and competition."

Just playing Devil's Advocate but if Clough or Adkins had signed a 30 yo CH who'd only ever played about ten games in L1 and spent the rest of his career in the conference and L2 and who'd played for him before, I think the comments would be quite different.

That's probably because they would've made 5 shocking signings already instead of 5 good ones and can't be trusted.

Clough's first lot of signings were generally quite good. Very few of us expected what was to follow. Granted, if he was still here now and sighed Wright we'd be saying he doesn't learn.
Adkins only made five or six signings and at least two were decent but they just don't make up for how poor Woolford and Hammond were. I'm ignoring Sammon as we'll never know who really signed him.

Adkins main issue was he never got signings over the line because he was being nobbed about by the likes of Norwich and Fulham and/or his targets weren't realistic given our resources.

We spent all summer chasing players we had no chance of getting while other good targets got away. Very poor scouting imo, Wilder isn't messing about like that, which is good. And we've the nucleus of the squad read for pre season, he didn't mess about giving no hopers like Hammond/Woolford etc a chance (see adkins on Jay / Collins)

It's all about trusting a managers judgement on a player . With Clough and Adkins there appeared to be no method in there madness.

Wilder seems to have a clear plan and leaving nothing to chance . Mitigates the risk of a mistake to me.

Clough and Adkins appeared not to understand the club and more importantly the league we are in.

Think there's a couple of reasons, first off Wilder is fairly honest about him not being a regular starter, instead of the BS we would have gotten from them two. Instead he chooses to focus on his leadership attributes and personality which are backed up by Oxford fans and we know we are lacking in (as Wilder has said so himself before).

And secondly his signings are yet to be proved good or bad. Coughs and Adkins were proved to be bad and therefore further signings would be treated with more scepticism than Wilders will be. If they turn out to be poor signings then Wilders further signings will not be accepted as easily.

Perhaps not, if they'd done it after signing several others who were clearly going to be above them in the pecking order.

And on top of that, the realisation that players performing now in lower leagues are probably better options than players who aren't performing in higher leagues

so , from having a dearth of CBs at the club now there,s a back up for left and right

In Wilder we trust
good times a coming

Bit disappointed young Semple will not be the 4th Centre Back.

I hope his pathway to the first team has not been closed before he has even got going
