Signed a 2 yr deal on a free from Oxford. I'll admit to knowing bugger all about him.

Obviously Wilder can't be arsed to memorise any more new names so is lazily signing players of the same name. Gerrim'out!!

Djaff - The wettest of wet blankets.

Presumably he played for CW at Oxford.

The only issue I have with this is the two year contract. He's 30 and had injury problems last season.

Otherwise, good, cheap back up at CB and LB, a leader, a good influence and had a great fitness record before last season. We have lacked leaders. Now we've got two defenders who've captained teams to promotion from League Two.

Also surely means no Kilgallon, confirming that O'Connell has been brought in as a regular starter.

You say no Killa, but with 3 cb's signed I reckon there's no McFadz either. I'm guessing that's it in that position

No way has Wilder signed James Wilson to be undisputed first choice at right centre half.

Only hope is that he's been signed as back-up along with Wilson, and a further first choice to partner O'Connell is yet to be signed. Wilder says he's at a "great age". Shows some questionable judgement there.

Jake Wright. Left sided CB Is the sixth signing for Wilder.
Adding balance and good league experience with leadership qualities.
With O'Connell and Fleck we are now signing players at the right age on the way up and not down.
Feeling this Wilder / Knill partnership is going to be very, very strong for us

Getting quite excited abut this binning of the dead wood and replacing with decent young up and coming lads. Promises to be a good season. In winning the first pre season game 5-0 at Stocksbridge Wilder was pushing the mantra - "move it quicker."

McNuts did well too. Allus thought his finishing was top draw if you can feed him, get him grounded and harness him properly.

Looks like Done and McNuts is a good pairing too. I thought it might be. Pace from Done and McNuts eye for goal. If we get a big lad in we have a lot of ways to change a game. Something that Adkins failed miserably on last season as his substitutions were just a like for like and not a mechanism to change the shape or the tactics to alter a game. Wilder recognised this and is sorting out a squad to do just that. It's all music to my ears as its what I would like to have done if I had the decisions to make.

Just waiting for the posters to say we are going to have a massive squad just like Clough did ;)

UTB

I think someone at the club has snapped after reading this forum last week.

"Signings? You want fucking signings?. Here, have your fucking signings, have as many as you like you impatient twats, aaaarrrrghhh "

17 more to follow next week.

Their fans, well 95% of them seem gutted to see him go not just for him being a decent player but how he is as a person. A real committed leader of men, great to have at the club and in the dressing room. Something we've really lacked since Morgs retired.

In my opinion that's the main reason he's signed. He knows he won't come in as a guaranteed starter but if he's great around the dressing room and for the younger lads, and also can mentor Semple with him being left footed brilliant. A lot of their fans think Appleton might rue this decision and that remains to be seen. If he isn't quite up to it with his reputation I don't think he'll be hard to move on to a top L2 club - put it that way. If he is good enough brilliant.

A sensible signing to compliment what we have. I don't think there's much between league 2 and league 1 now anyway if you look at how many sides come straight up and do well and how many sides go down and struggle that's evidence of that.

A player who wants to come here to play for this brilliant club, fight for his place, fight for the fans and write his name in Bramall Lane folklore - not just to pick up a nice paycheque and do fuck all for it. Because he won't be on much that's for sure.

Now just for the small matter of McFadzean please Chris...

The pre-season before 2002/2003 we signed Kenny, Onoura, Allison, Yates & McCall from what was the D1/D2 scrap heap at the time.

That year Warnock looked for cheap talent he had worked with, experience of the division and as always with Neil, players who wanted to win. All under a tight budget. We didn't do bad that year did we?

I get a sense of deja vu' with what Wilder is doing at the minute and I am encouraged...

We'll see Ricky, but I'm not expecting proper quality coming in in every position
Kyle McFadzean will sign for the blades before the window shuts. What happens if Wilson gets injured? Have you ever seen a left footed centre half play right centre half? No because they only EVER play left side. They're never coached to do it because it's rare to have many left footed centre halves.

We'll have 2 in each position, what a glorious time. It's what good clubs do to be successful. Competition for places.

The problem with McNulty is that he is a moron. If he put as much effort into doing the hard yards as much as he does social media, the lash & knocking around with his hanger onners he could be a very good championship striker.

The good news is that under Wilder he is either going to put the effort in, or get binned off. Either way, I am confident the right decision shall be made this time.

Yes good point and it may happen but I don't expect it to. Imo, Bash will cover if we go with 3

Wilder has said Basham's a centre mid and he doesn't seem to like square pegs in round holes very much. I have absolutely no doubt McFadz will be playing for us come September.

He did indeed Danny, but hasn't he also said Bash can cover at cb if necessary?

He used to be shite and now he's all Wright, Jake Wright, Jake wright.

Left Oxford as he's not guaranteed first tram football, he's third choice there. Good signing as a back up but slow so needs some pace alongside.

This also suggests either Macfadzean ain't coming or Wilder doesn't think Semple is good enough cover.

Another centre back and cover at fullback will be required if the transfer listed players go.

Don't know if he's pencilled in as a starter or who we anticipate first choice pair to be. Puts us in a better position too if we can't get KM

Semple did altight today but don't think he's quite first team standard just yet. Could do with some first team experience and maybe a loan somewhere.
