Only issue with Long is that he's previously done his knee ligaments and hasn't played a lot of games in any one season or indeed his career. He seems to be over any problems now though and I'd take him. I'm not sure if he's a leader or not but if he isn't it wouldn't be a problem because O'Connell is, even if he's younger.
From his point of view he needs to go somewhere permanently where he'll be first choice, we'd be a perfect move for him.

Just read that Forster-Caskey's move to Rotherham is about to fall through - however, unfortunately for us, this is because he doesn't want to move north.

I think it was the visit to the surrounding areas of Eastwood and Rawmarsh and the guided tour the heritage site that is Milmoor that convinced him to say in the south.

Prefer Long to Kyle as he had youth on his side and been kept out if a good burnley team by some good players who have subsequently reached the premiership.

I agree that Long is a better player (ability wise). Although I'd prefer McFadzean. Partially from a fitness/reliability point of view, but also because it seems (admittedly based on rumour) that McFadzean has a greater desire to join us.

Wilder has talked about wanting potential incomings to really want to play for us, and I agree it's important: we shouldn't have to persuade people to come, and I think with a lot of championship players that may be the case.

Oh, and he's a blade (Am I right Pinchy?)

Na, na, na, na....

Seriously we don't know how keen Long is to join us, do we? Maybe nobody's asked him yet. I bet he holds up a scarf with great enthusiasm and says we're massive. What more can you ask?

At least we are spared that awful ailment, Dan Burn Syndrome.

I enjoy lower league summer transfer debate from a distance. I've never heard of half of the players we're linked with, so to have a message board argument on such matters would require a Walthamstoic* capacity for dispute.

In my head Forster-Caskey is the result of a beautiful romance between Darren Caskey and Nicky Forster. But I might be wrong.

You're right Pinchy, in fairness I have no clue what Long may or may not be thinking.

I think it's because I've (we've) been burnt by previous players dropping down from higher levels, I'm haunted by nightmares of Dean Hammond and Paddy McCartney.

You can have Danny Higginbotham too. He was so past his sell-by-date we had to scrape the mould off his legs before each game.

A thought shared by many Blades on seeing the ball come into our penalty area...

Well played, made me chuckle.

He made Kitson and Barry Robson look quick and nimble

At least it sounds like there's solid interest there.

Hopefully we can spring a surprise here, but if not at least it shows our midfield recruitment isn't over if Wilder has his way.

I think too many elements are against us with this - we're north of Watford gap, we're in League 1, Championship interest and wage structure.

Other than that I think we have a great chance.

Left appears to be a shot from La Manga, right is Mr. Double-Barrel.

I don't necessarily believe it's him, but I also don't know who the hell that is!

Would surely be a good signing.

Got more than a hint off the turners/hoopers/burns about it tho. Hope I'm wrong.

And another...

Look into the brows, the brows, not around the brows, it's all about the brows.

And Forster-Caskey's brows are far more impressive than the other guy's, so it's not him.

Pffft. Never heard of a bad brow day, Herb?

Flimsy theory at best :D
