38 appearances since 2020/21, and 20 of those were in Belgium last season. He’s 29, so those should have been his peak years. What happened?

Fitness issues. Out with hamstring for 12 games last season. Bad ankle injury when he was younger requiring surgery. Face didn't fit with some managers at Palace. Best performances were when he played at left back.

If he was to compete for the CM Souza type role I can see the merit.

Least Chris knows where we’re struggling but he hardly stays fit but wilder is great with freebies

Who knows, I don’t know enough about him but he’ll get a fair shake from me.
You know that he has had a bad injury and hasn’t played much football for a few years. You also know that we have been down that road before. So if we sign him he’ll also get a fair shake from me, but if he turns out to be another crock fingers will justifiably be pointed.

Expectation will be, or ought to be, that at best he will fill in and plug the gaps. We can’t expect much more than that from a free agent in October and we wouldn’t get much more than that in the market. It would be hard to be hugely disappointed in what is a shot to nothing, although I imagine some will with absolute relish.

If we are to sign him then a short term deal to January would make sense. Review at that point and let that determine whether he's here in 2026 or not.

What I expect to happen is a contract to 2027 because Wilder is convinced he has the midas touch; and less than 90 minutes in total.
