End of an era. He became a bit of a cult figure, not necessarily because of his footballing talents but because of his attitude, tenacity, resilience (let's not forget, some argued he was the best player for us during the last relegation season) after looking particularly limited at the start of his time with us.

GLTTL, I'll miss his apparent joy at sending oppo players into the stands.

Always seen him as a liability i.e prone to make a foul in and around the penalty area when confronted by better players, his mouth has on quiet a few occasions landed him with a yellow card and his discipline in general either towards officials or opposition players, good luck to him but never been a cult figure that status goes to players such as Keith Edwards, Brian Deane, Alan Kelly.

He's done that a few times, I've seen him arguing with fans at BDTBL, swearing ranting raving etc.
Thank the Lord the wildebeast has gone - at last , club removes what should never have happened in the first place.
The last vestige of the Wilder era , a toxic hangover , off our backs.
It's almost like the club is finally getting a grip of the situation but why has it taken so long ?
They've been in cloud cuckoo land all summer.
And I've been asking for some proper big dominant CBs since JoC retired and subsequently when Souttar was so unlucky.
That Bindon was nowhere near ready - no idea why we got him.
But with today's two CBs , I honestly feel we can turn over a new leaf in defence.

I would not question his commitment before this season just his common sense, got involved in too many unnecessary scraps which resulted in fines when as Captain he should have been leading by example.

As for his level he’s a decent mid table Championship defender but not someone who should be near the first team of a squad the has its eyes on Promotion
To the Prem.

Wonder why he played the relevant number of matches which allowed him to automatically renew his contract, especially when we had spent a fortune signing the guy from Palace who seemed to be a better player. You never know we may have got promotion with him in the team as opposed to JLT, but I assume the manager knew best .
I hope you're saying this with your tongue firmly in your cheek 🤣
Wilders shenanigans with filling Robbo's contract conditions .....
Etc etc
ALLEGEDLY 😉

He won me round when in our shit season in the Prem he was the one who didn't give up. Yes was not good enough for the Prem, but that was not his fault, he gave his all. Lots of others were not good enough and often gave up around him. I don't get the hate for him at all, never the best and never the worst but always gave his all.

Good on ya Jack and good luck mate, hope things go well for you except for against us!!

Genuine question but have I missed something with JLT? I get that his ability was limited and that he was also a liability at times but he never hid, always put a shift in and seemed like he actually cared.

Far, far worse footballers and and far worse characters than him haven’t attracted anywhere near the abuse he has got on here.

I really must have missed something?
Just have think about how , as a limited old player , he came to have an "option over the club" to extend the one year contract we gave him in summer 2024.
And who gave him such a contract term , and why , when
He was obviously not worthy if more than 12 months and
We really should have been moving him on this summer.

Good luck Jack, you served this club well often representing us as captain.

For any Birmingham fans reading:

Strengths
1: He’s a battler, quite physical/ combative/ emotional who hates losing. As mentioned his never accept defeat character stood out in our terrible PL season. We’d be losing 3-0 and many of the players had given up where as Jacks attitude was we might be losing 3-0 but don’t want to lose 4-0. He’s a winner , very competitive and explains why Wilder liked him and made him captain.

2: Fantastic long throws, almost like corners.

Weaknesses
1: Lack of pace. Copes with most Championship level players but struggled when up against athletic Olympic sprinter type PL strikers or anyone with quick feet or pace.
2: Prone to rushes of blood. Had a habit of making bad mistakes, like falling over the ball, slipping or passing it straight to their player. Also did alot of grappling and holding in the box when we were defending corners.
3: Can be rash and too emotional. He doesn’t back down from intimidation so he’s the one that runs into the middle of a crowd of players when there might be a fight. Also gets involved in dissent towards the ref when things go against him. He’ll make stupid tackles meaning he’s sent off. When receiving abuse from his own fans for making a bad error he’s the type that shouts abuse back at the fan who abused him.

Overall
I’d say he’s normally a decent probably average standard Championship central defender, definitely good enough to be in any CC squad but he’s miles away from ever being PL level. Slightly too slow, too rash and makes bad errors too often so can be a liability/ accident waiting to happen.

I really don't get the hate on this thread. Some of you need to take a long hard look at yourselves. Good luck, Robbo.
Everyone's entitled to their opinion ..... What don't you get about that? You've slagged off the ones who slated Robbo but not given a reason as to why you liked him!

I think some people are forgetting our shit show of a season in the PL (the second one!) He was the only player who seemed to give a damn week in week out! He was the only player that year who could hold his head up high!
And he was good enough to chat to my boys and have his picture taken with them.
He’s played a lot of games for us (more than most) and I for one would welcome him back anytime! 🍻
Good luck Robbo ⚔️
