So what happens when the interested club offers more? And then what does JOC (and his agent) think about it when he realises he could be on treble what he's getting here?
Fucking hell, it's like groundhog day every fucking season at this club.

Wilder just let slip on the manager’s special football heaven that we’ve turned down £5.5m for him

If it’s hypothetical you can still moan about it.
#bladestransferwindowrules
Hypothetical? It's a well worn blueprint.
Another club interested in one of our players
SUFC say he's not leaving
Interested club ups the offer (by not very much)
SUFC accepts offer
SUFC say it was "crazy money" and couldn't stand in the players way (whose head was turned by his agent)
SUFC say money will be used to fund incoming players
Incoming players don't transpire
Money to be used to cover operating costs instead
Fans congratulate the board for saving the club from bankruptcy
All hail McCabe
In the case of Jack O’Connell has this actually happened? If not then it’s hypothetical. The bid we turned down from Brighton was a few weeks ago now

Sometimes I wonder if the "LJ" in front of your user name is a pseudonym for "esa". However, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and continue the discussion. There's nothing hypothetical in my suggestion, it's a well proven fact, i.e., once United receive a sizeable bid the player is sold. The only problem is that United's definition of "sizeable" is that it's usually about 5 years behind the times.
Have we agreed to sell Jack O’Connell?
Not yet. Another £1m will do the trick.
Completely hypothetical.
“Once United receive a sizeable bid the player is sold”*
*except for when they aren’t
Yep, definitely smell a rat here. Notice you didn't deny the "esa" connection!
I notice you’ve completely changed topic. I’ve also noticed that you do that a lot when you realise you don’t have an argument.
Anyway, I didn’t feel the need the comment on the ‘esa’ thing. You seem to be doing a good impression of him yourself
Almost tempted to give you a like for that! Bugger it I will.
Anyway, I provided the argument in the posts preceding this, it's pretty clear. Lets see eh?
I also think the point he’s making LJB is that we sell for a sizeable offer but £5.5m for JOC isn’t a sizeable offer for someone of his talents. Don’t be surprised if JOC plays international football at some point.Oh you provided an argument alright but it wasn’t exactly difficult to argue against it.
We sell all of our players at the first ‘sizeable’ offer, except for when we don’t.
5.5 million for a player of o'connells ability is a desperation bid. He's worth three times that without a doubt.. and wilder and co know this.I also think the point he’s making LJB is that we sell for a sizeable offer but £5.5m for JOC isn’t a sizeable offer for someone of his talents. I suppose what it boils down to is what does the person themselves discussing said player and offer view as a sizeable offer, imho this offer is derisory for a player of his talents in this day and age.
They can’t be that desperate if they’re only bidding that then?5.5 million for a player of o'connells ability is a desperation bid. He's worth three times that without a doubt.. and wilder and co know this.
Falls into the age old thing. "United accept the first offer" let's be brutally honest. If we have that opinion 90 percent of the time. I'm pretty sure other clubs will think the same. They can’t be that desperate if they’re only bidding that then?

I sort of agreed with your initial post, my point was how can it be a desperate bid when it’s seen by myself, you and many others as a very low offer in the first place?Falls into the age old thing. One of those bids that "right we need a CB as cheap as possible, reading have dismissed our bid, so let's try scrimp and offer united (who have a history of accepting pityful offers) 5.5 million. They're sure to accept"I sort of agreed with your initial post, my point was how can it be a desperate bid when it’s seen by myself, you and many others as a very low offer in the first place?
To me, it’s more of an offer to chuck the feelers out and as you’ve quite rightly pointed out it was point blank rejected. They know they’ll have to up the offer big time or fuck off basically.

It's not difficult to argue against in your case if you are as obdurate as you are. I'm not being hypothetical in this case by the way, its there for all to see.

Yes but we haven’t accepted the first offer and as you have already pointed out, Wilder will have told them in no uncertain terms to fuck off and come back when you put some proper money on the table, even then it might not be enough? One of those bids that "right we need a CB as cheap as possible, reading have dismissed our bid, so let's try scrimp and offer united (who have a history of accepting pityful offers) 5.5 million.
