Outgoing? Jack O'Connell

Has this actually any substance or is everyone having a meltdown at some shite a spotty teenager has posted on twatter?

It’s even worse than that.

Someone on twitter has come up with a fairly generic description of a player our groundsman says we’re signing. This description means that the player absolutely must be Kean Bryan, which absolutely must mean we are selling JOC.

The logic is undeniable

I know you're being a little bit ironic but I've heard something similar . I won't name my source but she's adamant that because we're getting 18 million for JOC, Kean Bryans price has now hit 5 million .

Can’t comment on any of those. That’s more than JOC is worth in my opinion so I’ll take it. If it’s reinvested we have quite a budget for a striker.

For me he's much better than two of them so has to be worth at least as much.Eight million doesn't buy you much these days. It might even force a formation change as players with his characteristics are rocking horse shit.I'm racking my brains for a replacement under that figure, and I'm not coming up with much. Tall; good in the air; fairly quick; comfortable on the ball; can carry the ball in the other half of the pitch.Great stamina, and doesn't get injured often.Reads the game well. Like I said: rocking horse shit.
I think the replacement would be a punt, with the rest of the money going to improve the rest of the team.If we can improve three or four positions with permanent transfers, it'd be palatable. We'd have to be looking at closer to 15 million to do that. He's one of United's four king pins: Fleck,O'Connell, Coutts, Duffy.

We're panicking, having a meltdown, believing anything anybody says and calling everyone anti United, board haters etc..... It's what we do with less than a week to the window closing and the season starting ffs. How do you stay so calm and feckin logical? WELL?

No chance he'll move to Brighton. His missus just signed for man Utd.

Id start to worry if Leicester sell Maguire however...

This thread as grown since I last looked, soooo...

Is this actually a thing or have people been sitting naked on the beach glued to twatter again?

Fuck all going on.

JOC’s missus has still signed for MUFC. He still lives in Liverpool. BHA’s number one target has put in a transfer request (Liam Moore) and they are trying to undermine Reading’s position with a bit of paper talk on their backup targets.

Moore will be at Brighton by the weekend.

Really don't think he is? He's turning into a complete defender for me, step up seamlessly to the PL

I think he could be but not at the moment. I think he'd be found out in a back four in the top flight. Too slow and too clumsy and not got the speed of thought or anticipation to counter his weaknesses. Also prone to a rick. He'll improve but I can't see him as being good enough to start in a good Premier League team right now.

James Nursery Jurno for the Mirror reporting he is off to Brighton 6m
Think we need to retain the nucleus of last season for momentum. If we want to go forward, ambition is at the forefront.
We've all experienced the selling past to the detriment of club and fans.
Just take a look what's going off across the road at pigfarm.com

I just find it totally baffling the amount of comments on here saying they'd take 8m.

YOU WILL NOT GET A REPLACEMENT FOR 8M!

JOC is a good defender and has been a fantastic servant to us but if you think we can’t find at least as good a defender for £8m then you significantly overrate him. With all due respect to JOC.

Can’t understand anyone saying they’d take anything!

The best we’ve had since Harry by a long way, and he can go all the way to the top.
No chance of replacing a LCB as solid as Jack, who gets forward and overlaps.
Integral to the way we play.

Reading rejecting 15m for a defender!
No chance we should consider.

People talk about the complete defender. This boy is that.

Bit of pace, aggressive, strong, good in the air, strong in the tackle. Never gets beat one on one. Good feet, great passing range, great at bringing it out from the back.

His ONLY weakness is in the oppositions box. He should get 3/4 a season with the amount he wins in the other box.

He’s the complete defender and selling him for anything other than crazy money would be, well, crazy.

O’Connell himself didn’t cost us £8m in the first place. There have been many others, a lot better than O’Connell, who have been transferred in the past for less than £8m also. It’s very untrue to say we couldn’t replace him for £8m or less.

Name some... Criterion: left footed, good in the air, comfortable on the ball, great staimina, reads the game well, fit every week, excels on the left of a back three. I'm sure there out there somewhere waiting to be developed, but where? If they're the finished product, again where and at what price realistically?
I've seen a kid at Bansley mentioned but it'd be a gamble.

Again same questions as posed in post 265.

Bang on the money so to speak. "Loads of better defenders have gone for less" people are saying. Well that was before the market went crazy. We've gone from fans protesting at sales to... Take the money. For what gain? To have 20m in the bank? No thanks

Name one.

There are no other JOC’s around, as good as him with his set of skills available for 8mil - if there were Brighton would want them instead
