£9,000,000 now ffs
Egan’s not “decent”?
Here we go again. Would you care to explain why the board wouldn’t want us to be in the Premier League? Even one reason? This idiotic claim keeps getting repeated, but it’s self evidently total bollocks. He’ll be gone soon. I can’t remember the last time we managed to held on to a player once someone above us came in with a bid.
However, it is nice to see us actually negotiating for once, a welcome change from the “snap their arm off” approach usually adopted by our board.
Sadly, I don’t think the board shares our manager’s ambition for promotion. Which is a shame, given that (against the odds) he demonstrated last season that he can mix it at the top end of the division.
Brighton paid 20 million for Jahanbaksh so we should ask at least 15 million for O'Connell. Don't get me wrong, Jahanbaksh can play football, but he's not worth 20 million not even close. So apparently Brighton is willing to pay above the worth of a player if they really want him so we should just keep saying 15 million and no bullshit with bonuses etc. Just 15 million flat.If Brighton want him it’s because they think he’s good enough for the PL, so we should be asking for that kind of money.
But if a big club comes knocking .....IDEA.
Say to O'Connell: "Listen O'Connell, you're staying here. If we don't go up, we'll let you go."
Then sign more good players in an attempt to get promoted and keep O'Connell.
The money quoted is good and could improve us overall but as we are seeing with the Brooks money, it's not as easy saying "sell him for this, buy him for that"
It’ll be bullshit then. It’s just click bait crap.According to the renowned HITC, Brighton have returned with an 8m bid.
But if a big club comes knocking .....
But without selling Brooks they would have been the only players we could've signed.I was saying exactly this when talk first started about selling Brooks.
It is not as simple as reinvesting in 2 or 3 good players and getting stronger. Largely because.... wages. The list of players who'd make selling someone like Brooks or JOC worthwhile who fall within our wage structure isn't a very long list.
Just look what we've done so far regarding Brooks replacements - we've signed McGoldrick on a free and are loaning Woodburn. These are players we could've signed without selling Brooks.

As it is, there is still money to spend (whether we do spend it or not is, of course, another matter![]()
Wits response. Say no more.
I’d still have to think about itTwitter post of the day
Don’t sign Woodburn and then sell O’Connell. That’s like getting the chance to go down on Michelle Keegan and finding out she’s got a cock
What if we signed that lad from Man City as a replacement for Joc and then part of the Joc money also went on securing Waghorn? How would people see that?
I love JOC but if they’re offering sums of £9-10m then we would be crazy not to accept. We could buy two quality players with that if reinvested and it’s way over what Championship defenders are generally worth.
Flint, Mepham, Moore? Two of them much more limited yet worth much more than that. No idea on Mepham other than he's played abour 20 games.
£12m now with a make weight player coming in the other direction, who could that be?

Wheeling and dealing. That’s what Wilder has to do with our budget. Seen it before, many times, at the Lane and at other clubs. It seems a bit old school these days with all the money around but I don’t have a problem with it.What if we signed that lad from Man City as a replacement for Joc and then part of the Joc money also went on securing Waghorn? Even worse, it's like going down on Michelle Keegan in the dark, only for the light to come on, and it really be Jordan Rhodes!!Twitter post of the day
