I certainly hope so, even an unproven young striker complimented with a proven striker would cut it in my opinion. Fear we may be set for a long season failing this. My opinion of course!
And perfectly valid it is too.

I might even agree with you but for the time being I'm happy to sit back and let the professionals use their superior knowledge and expertise to do their jobs, as it is their jobs that are on the line if they get it wrong.

Funny but I don't see Waghorn on that list.

Even if your assumption is accurate there will be other players in Wilders mind, and do you know what?

He will already know what they're getting paid now and what it might take to sign them, whereas you are guessing and relying on journalist talk.

Wilder also has a strategy and won't spend money we can't afford.

Are you saying that his strategy is wrong and he's wasting his time?
Waghorn has had one season at this level at Ipswich, of course he's not on that list.
Can you name another akin to Waghorn who we could sign? He's in an exclusive club.

I am saying that he's wasting his time if we don't break the wage structure, yes.

Exactly my thoughts there mate. Easy to do it on football manager. Different gravy in real life.

I'm not the manager, I don't speak to agents and it's not my job to find new players so no, I don't have a list.

If Wilder has got his strategy wrong then it's his job that's at risk, not mine so all I will say is GLTTL

Wish we had got this lad, young, hungry, would have been one of the cheapest options and has a great eye for goal...but today, I'm glad he's playing for Derby.

Him, or Waghorn would have been great for us I feel. Sadly, we can’t compete. I do worry whether or not we have the resources to really improve at the top of the pitch.

It's just going to happen again in January though isn't it!? We won't be the only team after a striker again.

That we were willing to pay £5m for Waghorn but not him reflects very poorly.

Disagree. You’re using hindsight to your favour. At the time Waghorn had 17 goals and 12 assists to his name in the Championship. Marriott was still a League 1 gamble.

Not hindsight from me. I said at the time if we were spending big it would be better spent on Marriott.

If Derby don't go up could be an option

Just scored with his first touch coming on as a sub. H/T 1-1

2-1 Leeds on aggregate

He’s a Blade as well. ;)

What’s Derby’s financial situation like? Thought they were looking a bit dicey? Could capitalise on that.

He wouldn’t have been good enough if we’d signed him this year, he won’t be good enough for next season either.

Shouted Marriotts name for the past three seasons.. definitely think we need to be looking higher next season. Maupay would be a perfect option. All depends on cost of course.

Not good enough for Prem, Sharp is better and we already have him.

Maybe, maybe not

I think he has an excellent touch in front of goal

Maybe wrong, but didn't he take his goal well against us at Pride Park as well?

He's 24 whilst Billy is 33

I think he has something, certainly more than Hogan and whilst a different player to Madine, looks more of a scorer imo

I'd take him over Hogan, that's for sure.

If Derby don't go up, I'd definitely bid for him - he reminds me of a Callum Wilson, or Andre Gray - no guarantee that he'll make the grade, but if it pays off you've got goals and an asset with increasing value.

In other news, we’re in the Premier League now. Not good enough. Nowhere near. Our daft fans want us to buy relegation.

Three long months of noise and nonsense stretch ahead of us...
