It never became a bigger blade discussion ,only in your mind ,but if you think its helpful to Sheffield United to encourage and brag about not attending games then fair play to you.
'I used to be a top fan' your words not mine.

I don't think anyone is encouraging anyone not to attend.. people are wondering why they aren't attending.. as regards the top fan stuff.. i'm not bothered anymore. that is why i'm worried as it happens but hey
btw don't take it too personally sitwell.. some of your posts kill me :D

You are missing my drift my fellow blade. My point in this thread was 2 fold. 1. I've spent years missing family celebrations, cancelling holidays, siphoning off money that should have be spent on the family, nearly getting sacked for bunking off work early.... i could go on and on. I want to break that obsession and bring myself to miss the odd game every now and again if i really cant be arsed. 2. Now here's the point, in this day of modern technology the club could do more to make getting a ticket much easier and tilt that 50/50 feeling their way. I know its like giving a whiskey to an alcoholic, but hey that fix tastes good!

Now im on the slippery slope im looking forward to being able to better distinguish between an 'obsession' and a 'passion'. Here's to being able to book holidays in April time - yay!!!!!!

'Stick with it - you can break the habit' ,sounds like encouraging to me.

Never take it personally ,you should have seen some of my old altercations with trader and the like on BUVP.
Love the banter me :)

You will regret it Casper ,I'm sure of it ,I have my best excuse ever if I wanted ,my 2 younger ones don't want to go and my oldest joins the RAF next week. But I've already arranged the Roebuck before and after and its going to be a good afternoon out again, not just the match.

Do you mean the one where the bloke from Worksop starts a crap town pissing contest???:D

"'Stick with it - you can break the habit' "

It's not a bigger Blade contest. If people aren't happy, say so, don't go etc. But to encourage others to jack it just can't go unchallenged.

UTB

Now then, now then give over, my fellow blades (im a still a blade even though i missed 1 home match in about 35 years arent I???) erm perhaps not.

Surely diversity makes the forum a much better and interesting place for discussion. Where do we draw the line..... perhaps you cant post if you miss an away match either?

I thought Tuns earlier post was tops! I too have grown up (footy supporting wise) with many of the guys on the old-timers coaches. Diamond Travel - get in there! I realised a few seasons ago that there was more to life than trudging around the country week in, week out when some (most?) of the time it was out of a sense of 'duty' and a beer with the lads, than an actual football game.

Anyway, enough of all this, wtf am i doing posting on a football supporters forum, im off to Meadowhall in a bit.

Must admit its getting to be more of a social event to meet up with the lads and have a few beers rather than look forward to the actual matchday 'experience'. A couple of times we have passed the Sportsman and doubled back and gone to the pub instead, even though we have all got season tickets. Will i ever get that excited pre match feeling again? who knows, but we will all keep going 'darnt lane on satdi'. Keep the faith and dont throw the towel in!!!!

Football is ultimately more crap than it is good. That applies at any level & at every club. Whether you think it's worth putting up with the crapness in the hope of seeing a few minutes of memorable football is a matter of personal choice. Some drift out and then back in to watching, sometimes quietly, but often like some kind of returning messiah (when in fact they're just very naughty boys). Making a big song and dance about it is merely an attempt for reassurance or acceptance that they've done the right thing. A bit like a puppy.
