I love today's bit of Unitedspeak - apparently he turned down Inter for us.
Which reminds me, what ever happened to the world's best young player - Slavkowski was it? - who turned up a couple of years ago?

Inter released Slavkovsky because he couldn't get fit,

now turning out for Bochum reserves.

As others have mentioned, if he isn't a blackie signing, this could all go t1ts up for the lad.

Must admit, on the face of it, he doesn't look a blackie type player. Barnsley fans have intimated that he often seems lazy, which isn't the blackie way imo.

I saw Barnsley fans say that he was lazy, but then the same fans praised his movement. Maybe he's just a player that use more of his energy when we have the ball? I think Blackwell likes his forwards to work hard closing down opposition defences, so it will be interesting to see if they can make it work.

I remember one James Beattie who used to do this, he was called lazy too.

Some strikers works their socks off trying to get across the pitch to block a full backs pass. This prompts great applause from the crowd, some managers love it, and the striker gets praise for his hard work, determination and attitude. Then later he may not have the energy to get on the end of a good cross, or make an off the ball run that would have opened up space for others.

I thought Beattie was the exact opposite. He was unrivalled in 40 yard sprints to almost block a goal kick and tracking back 80 yards to put the ball out for the corner. He was worshipped because of it. His useful runs in attacking positions were far less frequent.

Agreed, Beattie was static as anything. Just banged em in from long range.

>In Monty's case, barring a last minute change from the Blades
or the 'overwhelming interest' turns out to be agent speak?

It was indeed "agent speak", given that the agent in question had to speak to the teams wanting to offer his client a deal :)

He was, most definately, offered more money elsewhere unless the Blades put in another offer at the last minute. I haven't heard from him for a few days so don't know if thats still the case.

Occasionally this happened

Granted, but if we have someone who can play there i.e. Cressy, then I very much doubt we will look for anyone in particular for that position, I hope I'm wrong, because he is clearly far better up top as we know.

Forgot Williamson was injured to be fair so Quinn will probably fill that position until he is back, unless he leaves of course.

I think Naysmith will sign, he seems an honest professional and given how we looked after him last season, he owes us a season, but we all know it doesn't necessarily work like that!

If Ward is injured I hope KB gives Lowton a decent run in the side, he looked very capable against Ipswich and would of course benefit from a run in the side, when Ward is back then of course, he may well drop back to RB.

Who knows though, only time will tell!

The bad news is, as loyal as we might think he is, he's been apparantly talking to Hearts!

The good news is, apparantly their offer is no better than ours.

The fact he owes us (I mean you know, a bit like Paddy did ffs) one would like to think he would stop, particularly as it's been said he's settled in this neck of the woods.

However, if anyone else comes along with a better offer, then I would expect him not to re-sign.

I think the Naysmith situation is a bit different to Paddy. I can't believe that Naysmith isn't financially sorted for life after his lengthy Premiership career and given how well he has been treated by this club, to go for a few extra pieces of silver would leave a very bad taste. With Paddy I can, very grudgingly, accept the wish to provide financial security for his family, but that simply doesn't wash in Naysmith's case.

What does he owe us? The guy suffered an arseload of pain and underwent multiple surgical procedures in the name of Sheffield United. A bit different to being a thicko who can't follow simple club and league rules.
