ITS NOT THE FUCKING STRIKERS

28 corners. Lost 2-0 (Mark Ward 2) in October 1989

If we had 28 corners in a game now, 25 wouldn’t beat the first man, two would hit the tenth row in the stand opposite and one would go out of play behind the goal line within the first two yards.

McBurnie and Brewster would get the blame and someone would point out Burke can run fast......

We have 1 goal from our midfielders this season and that was from Berge.
Bogle also scored when we went down to 10 men and he was pushed into midfield. Somebody needs to tell the rest of them they are allowed to support the attack.
And Berge's was a pen.

If Ramsdale had taken it we'd have our keeper outscoring the entire midfield at game week 26 😂

Fuck fucking me. Fuck a duck. Or just plainly
‘Faaaaaack’.

After every game like this one or both of the strikers get slaughtered.

Are we not, even slightly, getting through to the whole fanbase at this point that it is NOT the strikers fault?
Today we’ve given both McBurnie and Sharp scraps if you’re being kind, fuck all if you’re not, and still there’s a thread slagging Oli off 😂

Put plainly - Robert Lewandowski will miss more chances in a season than our whole strike force put together. And he’s the best on the planet. This is testament to how much we expect + how little we create.

I’ve staunchly defended McBurnie, and I still make no apologies for that. We signed the pound for pound best striker in the championship who just scored 24 goals and used him as some sort of targetman for our bypassing of the midfield, long ball, Pulis tactics. Even last season. Still, he scored most of the chances he got last season and imo hasn’t had any chances this season really.
Sharp’s scored a few, missed a few of the ‘chances’ he’s had.
Moose scores most of the chances he gets and his good bit of play is the only time we looked truly convincing as an attacking with this formation.
Burke has missed a couple but he ain’t a striker. McGoldrick missed a freaky amount of sitters last season that he has made up for this.
Did Robinson even have any chances to miss?
Same goes for Brewster.

You can blame the strikers if you want. It’s a good deflection to our reality. A cheap, easy snipe. But you’re so fucking wrong it’s untrue.

We scored the least goals of anyone outside the bottom 3 last season, we have scored the least goals in the Prem by a way this season. It’s easy to look at the strikers and think it should be on them. But how can you watch that today and genuinely in your heart think either of the strikers on the pitch are to blame?

It’s the shape, it’s the midfield, it’s the wing backs, it’s the tactics, it’s the manager. Take your pick. But it isn’t the strikers. Aside from about 4/5 games over the past season and half they’ve been the most isolated strike pairing of the Premier League era. And it doesn’t matter who we pick. It’s the infamous ‘system’ that leaves us to play this way.
I agree with all that, word for word. But McBurnie ain’t half trying to make monkeys out of us.

You didnt include the number that would go straight to the keeper.

Fack me Mary Poppins!

Been saying this for ages on other threads.

We may well usurp Derby county for being the worst PL team ever, but this year's midfield has to be the worst midfield to ever be picked consistently in PL history. Disinterested Lundstram, woefully out of his depth Norwood and perpetually injured/ill Fleck.

Take a bow guys.

It’s the strikers when the chances do pop up they put it anywhere but the goal I don’t agree that McBurnie is a good player one thing is for sure he’s not worth that sort of money we play better when he’s on the bench. We have picked up more points this season when he was out injured and the long ball was dropped. Can he still score goals in the championship we are about to find out

OH YES IT FUCKING IS !!

You just don’t wanna admit it.

It comes to something when your centre forward has a better record in defence than attack, its almost hilarious looking at the stat.

Well, might have some weight if I was just talking about McBurnie here, but I'm not...
Burke the same, McGoldrick the same, your favourite Billy the same, Mousset the same with caveats, Brewster the same, Robinson WAS the same.
NONE of them have more than 10 goals since we came up.

We scored 39 goals last season.
15 this.

And WORLD CLASS strikers miss more chances than they take, they just get a lot more made for them. But for some reason we expect our strikers to put away every chance they get, and if they don't they're a 'waste of money'.

It's absolutely laughable. Our chance creation is truly pathetic, and we don't have the types of strikers who can create goals for themselves. Hence why our record in front of goal is so woeful.
We could have a striker partnership of Lewandowski and Aguero and they'd not return double figures.

1 headed goal off his 50 pence head that went in completely the wrong direction to its intended target is not very much in credit thus far this season.

8 “big chance” misses by comparison suggest :-

a. Your wrong about chance creation.
b. Your “boi” is fucking hopeless when clear cut chances do come his way.

The 1 to 9 ratio is about what can be expected I guess !

Really looking forward to seeing this uptick in goals in the Championship all the apologists are so confident of 😀👍.

You can't truly believe that?
Laughable 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Oh, and it's you're*
You’re right.

We should just take your word for it instead of rely on a database of evidence put together for absolutely no reason whatsoever 👍.

Good one 😂😂.

I watched how McBurnie played against Liverpool and thought for a big lad he doesn’t half get pushed off the ball. Also the instance where Mane took it off him showed how bad he really is.
I think we all know the midfield is not giving our strikers enough chances but when we do get into good attacking play our strikers always seem to be in terrible positions.

I’m genuinely gobsmacked as to how so many of our fans are blind to our lack of creativity and positivity. Im far from saying our forwards are great either. But from watching the last miserable year of football its got to get into our heads that our lack of technical ability and the chances that could come from that ability is the biggest issue we have.

Watch us play. Actually watch us.
If you can sit through that and determine we create anything like a good volume of chances, despite what some super computer says, you're off your fucking rocker.

Some people are thick as mince, pal.
Also, massive fan of your new avi.

No one is suggesting we are ever gonna create as many good chances as the top sides.

But lumping ALL of the blame for this on the midfielders and wide creative players is just plain vanilla bonkers.

Is there ANY striker in the division with a worse "ratio" than 1 in 9 here ?

ALL of our other strikers manage a MUCH better ratio of goals to big chances. All of them. He stands out a country mile. I would confidently predict that 1 or 2 of our current strikers would be 20 goal a season PL strikers in the top teams. Confidently so in one particular case.

THAT is my point.

Its just not any where near as plain as you would want it to be.

Have no idea why !;)

Last Season (Change the filter by season to 2019 / 2020) :-

At what point are you willing to admit your perception of reality is, for whatever reason, not entirely accurate ?

There is no spoon :).
