Is Tuesday the night to experiment?

Given the "non-importance" of this fixture, should Weir try something different for this match, like 4-4-2 or (anything else) to see if it any improvement on what we have at the moment.

This might give us a clue as to the root of the problem, whether it is the formation, the players or Weir.

It could also save Weir's career, here or anywhere else.

Ive given up on Weir. We haven't won a Game since start of the season but he has persisted with one up front throughout this horror show. One of the most obvious changes you could make would be to put 2 up front, but he's too stubborn to do that. I predict the same old Bull shit Tuesday.

Do we keep Weir, a man who knows how the modern game should be played, and who, by changes in personnel is trying to implement change for the better, or do we get back onto the magic roundabout, hoping that one of the number of failed has-beens will fall into our path, to fail again, at our expense? We couldn't catch a monkey if it was tied down on the pitch- especially if it was in the oppositions half!

Think DW2 would get more support from blades if he did try and mix it up a bit, especially when it is evidently not working. When you do the same thing over and over again - you become easy to play against.
Maybe he hasn't got the tactical nause to do it or maybe it is just inexperience......

Most disappointing thing for me is how lightweight we have become. We get bullied all the time now and there's nobody out there that will impose themselves on a game and intimidate the opposition a bit.
That's not United.

There's a lot of rubbish on here about Swansea and their style of play, I'm not getting into all that again......However, the only point I would make is that the Swans are not just about keeping the ball. They have individuals in the team who can tough it up when they have to, players like Ashley Williams & Michu don't mind the rough stuff if the opposition is trying to get the upper hand. This is something we are sadly lacking.

Unlike a lot, I am going Tuesday night. I am just intrrested to see what happens when the pressure is off!

That depends if you regard 20 passes in your own half, whilst the opposition puts ten men behind the ball, "better".

The current fad of playing one up-front is nothing more than that - a fad. It will change. Some premiership teams are already playing with two strikers.

Call me stupid, but I thought the "modern game" was all about scoring more goals than the opposition (just the same as the "ancient game" actually).

Weir appears to know very little about playing that way.

Agreed, Swansea are an attacking, physical, possessive side. 3 qualities SUFC don't have. I think it's abundantly clear that Weir is the weak link. The squad is by no means immaculate, but they have the quality to be at least mid-table. He should experiment tomorrow night. He should start 4-4-2. But he won't. I'm not going. I want to, but I have work.

I have absolutely no idea what you're basing that on. Your optimism is admirable even if it's without reason.

Here's the problem for me.....I don't want to see my club go into the fourth division and on recent displays that's a very realistic possibility.

I think Weir may have an inkling that his current system isn't working but doesn't want to look weak by giving up on his preferred style so early on in his managerial career. I'll be going tomorrow and this is what I'd like to see:
Howard
Westlake Collins/Maguire Kennedy Lappin
Murphy McGinn Coady Flynn
Taylor King

Although Lappin looked awful he should play to gain some fitness. Taylor and King should look to futher develop what looked like a potential partnership on Friday. Hopefully Miller can get some minutes off the bench, as well as some youngsters such as Eyre or Smith. Starting Hall might also be an idea to continue his return to fitness.

Yea it's so much more fun at the bottom of Div 3 that being in with a shout of the play-offs in Div 2

i was going to ask, what is the case with the international call ups? as surely whoever is involved with there country will have joined up. Surely we are allowed a few more changes.

Don't think they officially join up until later in the week so the likes of King and Long and McGinty could play on a Tuesday night.

I think Torrix1889 is right, I can envisage Weir starting Taylor to give him game time. However, I believe Taylor will begin as a lone front man. Weir will, true to type, stick to his principles again until we are behind then he may, repeat may, go with an additional striker. In all probability he will just take Taylor off and do a one for one replacement. King will probably be on the bench and enter the fray when we are two down to try to rescue the tie.

Anyone think any differently to this?
