Is there anyone left supporting Weir?

because I believe if you give someone a role, you have to back your decsion and ensure your expectations have realistic timeframes to come to fruition.

Or until the reasons you hired him have gone.

If we knew then what we know now, would we make the same decision?

The only defence I hear these days is that we've sacked too many managers before. That's about as poor as it gets.

Fighting relegation wasn't an expectation when he took the job as far as I was concerned. What were your goals when the season began? What were your goals after the notts County game? What were your goals after the Prince came in and we brought in Baxter and Cuvellier etc; players not performing for David Weir. Every week we have allowed our expectations to get less and less.

He is over a 1/4 through the season and there is now probably only 1 way out of this divsion. I think he has truelly delivered the worst crop of fruition since the Orange Crop of 30 years ago in trading places.

Answering yes or no to that question would both read that I do not have kids.
I do.

I didn't ask for a yes or no. Just wondering how you get on with telling a 6 year old about patience and why he should be going to the Lane when the lad most probably hates it

Thanks, I'm behind him until he falls into the criteria I put forward for when I would look to remove him from his role. Namely, if there aren't signs of improvment by Christmas or we drop 10 point off safety then I'd be having a chat with him about leaving his role.

I'd stick with him until we're in the Northern Premier second division, playing in the centre of Woodbourne Road International stadium in front of two men, a dog, and a cardboard cut out of a Saudi Prince.

Alternatively .......

But the reasons to hire him haven't gone?

He had a clear track record and promise.

After a pre season and 12 signings, a quarter of the season gone, we've been dumped out of both cups by struggling 4th division opposition and have made the worse third division start in our history.

Call me Mr Picky but.............

We were also told that failing to be promoted wasn't an expectation, but contending for it was. Job over?

The Orange crop turned out to be fine in Trading Places.

It was a flipant comment about the lastest generation haven't no patience. My daughters not been regularly since Blackwell saw her off.

If he did go, who would you want to see brought in?

A: Anyone
B: Steve Evans
C: Gary Johnson
D: Any others who've successfully navigated the lower leagues.

Seriously, I wouldn't go past Hodges and Page this time. McCabe will rue the fact he didn't go with his gut instinct on this one. I know it feels like out of the frying pan into the fire, however I believe in what I know of them both. Both are very well respected and instantly I believe the players would respond to them.

However as this ship has sailed I think you're looking at someone who insists that foremost his players are fit and can run through walls. I believe this team isn't lacking in ability, just heart.

I want someone who can identify where we are going wrong, from captain through to all the other senior players. People in the game will know what's happening at the Lane and I want someone to come in and be brave. The rest will follow because the ability is there.

The ship of Warnock has sailed but he would be perfect with say Curle with Derry as captain

Oh add McCall right now too. I want somebody who understands that United were the blood sweat and tears to the pigs cuntery

Pinchy - You can also give blood, sweat and tears and play football

I don't agree with chopping and changing managers all the time but Weir really doesn't appear to be the man for the job. That said though, there's now no chance at all that we're going to make the play offs so I think we might aswell give him till Xmas.

I think it's fair to say we all WANT Weir to succeed and given that we're now in a relegation battle, he's got a bit of time to turn it round, keep us up and go for promotion next season. As much as I hate Weir right now, bringing a new manager in now is not going to get us promoted, Darren posted the other day that we now need to average 2 points per game to get in the play offs and that is not going to happen so it really doesn't matter whether we finish 7th or 20th.

:)

Haha! I haven't had a look at it yet mate, been too busy depressing myself with tonights match!

A good technique. Watch United, then see how analysing spreadsheets is right up there with a threesome with 2 horny bitches.

Oh I haven't watched them, sod that! I've just been active in the shoutbox all night.

You're right though, in comparison to watching United, pissing about with spreadsheets would be like having a threesome with Scarlett Johansson & Cheryl Cole.

I'm with you on the principle of giving Weir as long as possible. Trouble is, it seems the players' cowardice knows no limit. They've all the fight of newborn kittens. As such I find it hard to imagine a winning United team with Doyle and Collins in it, regardless of the manager. They're the heart of our squad, and that squad has been rotten for too long. This is not a nice simple case of lambs leading lions.

So assuming Weir goes before he can get his own senior players in place, Clough for me please. And some players with genuine leadership brought in in January.

Forgive me, I'm still splitting my sides at the Hodges, Page, Warnock, Curle, Derry management team. I thought you claimed you were one of the few natives capable of looking over the S2 fence? Not a bit of it!

It's the Bladey Bladesfans' Way.multiplied by 5. Can you not find slots for Tufty, Pesch, Stretch, Kozzy, Deano...........not forgetting the Hoof-Founder Dinosaur Dave of course.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.......We'll never move on, will we?

No, we'll move down to Division Four with this useless cunt in charge.

I'm afraid there are only a handful of us left with any common sense whatsoever JD. You make an excellent point about the players. I am not impressed by the refrain 'he's lost the dressing room' or 'they're not playing for him' That goes for any club, not just ours. If professional pride is not enough to make a player give of his best then quite simply he should be sacked. The foot soldiers don't decide who should be General. It's particularly galling when the said players are fucking useless.

The players are shit too, but is it not worrying that the ones Weir signed are as shit any of them?

I'm convinced that anyone wanting Weir to continue is genuinely on the wind-up.

Charming. It's disrespectful to (rightly) gently lampoon the likes of Dinosaur Dave, Muckanettles Morgan and The Maestro, but OK to call someone who has actually won a few medals in this game 'cunt'.

It doesn't offend me, by the way; far from it - but hypocrisy and double standards do.

Yep I think that's reasonable. But I'd just ask this if last season we finsished 6th (and only lost 3 after Blackman went and before Wilson went) don't you think a League record of P10 W1 D2 L7 Pts/game 0.5 kind of tells you something? In the same period at best it was P10 W6 D2 L2 Pts/game 2 (first 10 games post Blackman sale) or being pessimistic P10 W4 D4 L2 Pts/game 1.6 (last 10 games of Wilson's reign).

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but it is clear that staying with Weir is going to lead to certain failure. There is no evidence he is going to resolve this. 3-0 win tonight might just have earned a degree of confidence. Another abject performance just confirms he ain't got it.
