Is there anyone left supporting Weir?

I will. Please don't be a sanctimonious hypocrite when I do.

DW has achieved more success in football than all of the Bladey Bladey favourites put together. Think on.

Trouble is it was all with his boots on.

Boots off time now and he will achieve fuck all here

;)

4 4 2 eh?

Put it this way if we now achieved the same points per game with the same 'degree of shiteness' as we did the last 10 games under Wilson we would end up with about 62/63 points. I think given the Pinchy experiment is clearly still under development I think such an achievement would be considered a 'result' right now.

Seriously, I wouldn't go past Hodges and Page this time.

Can't understand this. Haven't we learned from untried 'managers' learning on the job?

That said though, there's now no chance at all that we're going to make the play offs so I think we might as well give him till Xmas.

Apart from being the understatement of this - or any century - as I posted yesterday the team who finished 5th bottom in the Third Division last season was Colchester with 51 points.

Make no mistake, it will take a near-miracle for us to stay up this season - an average of 1.27 points per game based on last season (1.31 after Coventry...) It's do-able with a manager who knows what he's doing, but with every passing game with Weir in charge, the mountain gets higher. If he's still here at Xmas, we've had it.

Off-topic, I listened to RS last night and the commentary match was Chezzie v Mansfield. It could have been coming from a different planet. Chances and near misses galore, the crowd roaring away, Porter going close on more than one occasion and a great game. Makes you realise how much we've missed under Weir.

I disagree. Baxter and Cuvelier, for example. are excellent footballers who have yet to show that in a Blades shirt. At one time, we had the decency to allow people a little time to settle in.

I'm confident DW will spend wisely in January. Sadly most of you want the psychological comfort blanket of an S2 Hoofer back in the chair, recruiting a bunch of latter-day Sheltons, Fathis and Nades.

Pinchy, generally, I am with you but I'm beginning to think that January might be too late. If the current run continues it certainly will be.

Since it became apparent that we are on the slide, I have said he should be given until the end of November, as a new manager then could have a few weeks to assess the squad in time for the JTW.

He needs now to get some results, or, at the very least, a set of vastly improved performances for me to hold to that way of thinking.

I want to see bucket loads of Bladey Bladeness, massive shithouses swinging their clodhoppers at everything that moves, 100 yard punts upfield and a bronze statue of Bassett and Warnock riding on the back of a T Rex erecting in the car park.

The best thing about this thread was the interesting exchange between Walthamstow/Pinchy (and far more enthralling than seen at the not so BDTBL this season).
A great verbal duel between one obviously educated, informed commenter and one who thinks he is ;)

I'd give the guy 5 or 6 more games, the table is not settled and it never is until that many games have been played. For instance, we are 4th, sitty pretty but fortune and the fixture list have favoured us, we have yet to play anybody in today's top 8.

After 15 games, not much ever changes, the top 6 will generally be then top 6 at the season end, same goes for the bottom 4. Just 2 wins (ok, that is double your current tally:D) will see you mid-table, but if you are still bottom 4 after 15 games, get rid, believe me , you don't want to go into L2.

Yes, I agree entirely mate and for the same reasons. I want DW to have every chance, because his principles are right and he has recruited well (though some of the recruits are taking a while to evidence that proposition). However, no manager can be given indefinite licence to lose!

Any change though, should not compromise on the objective of change of culture, though it might alter the route map slightly.

Your last sentence is important. I was talking to Large Mendonca last night. Every big company will have a transformation and a goal of where they get to. There will be quite a few deviations on the way, however the goal will remain the same.

1st man will come in and identify what is going wrong and what needs to be done, however isn't capable of implenting it.

2nd man will come in and make better procedures to ensure that the things in place (players) are able to perform and so on until the process works.

Weir is just the first piece of the end goal

and to add, people look at Southampton as an example of how to get out of this division successfully and progress.

Have people asked Pardew and Adkins how they feel about them getting to where they are now. Business is business and we need to make some good decisions.
