It’s just their mindset, everything that happens to them is always the best thing, and they can only envisage the “happy path” as a result.
In their world, there is no way that the new owners will be anything less than the richest man in the world, and his appointment will absolutely guarantee a return to the big time. It really is that simple to them, despite the fact that the examples of that actually happening are incredibly rare. But it’s Sheffield Wednesday, It’s no more than they deserve.

I'm really not looking forward to this one. For the first time in a few years I have a feeling of dread.
No Sheffield team appears to stamp their authority for too long.
The frustrating thing is the opportunities that we had in the last few years that were totally mismanaged apart from the first season back in the Premier league, we were incapable of building on that golden chance.
We are not alone though, loads of teams that are considered big clubs are just treading water outside of the Premier league who are now in that pool of team's who will have huge expectations from large fan bases but without all your ducks in a row and plenty of cash you will have little chance of returning to the top tier. The window to establish yourselves and solidify your position in the Premier league is vanishing.
As for the pigs, it will take a while for them to get back to any kind of normality but somehow they are showing a lot of fight and desire which is slightly worrying for Sunday because the Blades are very disjointed and perhaps not showing quite as much fight and desire as is needed.

Growing up in the 90's most kids supported Wednesday and certainly in my circle of friends back then they all supported Wednesday but, I chose to be different. Maybe I like the underdog, maybe it was fate... by the mid 2000's the tide kind of turned a little, and you'd walk down a street and most kids would be sporting Sheffield United shirts, this has been the general theme ever since then but in the back of my mind I've always thought, will that tide ever swing again in their favour? If you'd have asked me in 2017 if it would, I would have laughed..

But now, in 2025, Sheffield Wednesday are going to be sold fairly soonish after ousting their owner, which means its gonna be a "new era" for them and a "fresh" start.. all the while we are languishing 2nd bottom, struggling to pick up draws nevermind wins... we look in a precarious position.. and youd have to wonder, if Sheffield Wednesday wasn't in the position they were RE owners, we could be bottom....

Tend to agree. The pigs are shit, make no mistake, but do show signs of fight in them. I think we are a bit better, but with a tendancy to collapse under the slightest pressure. Given the atmosphere of a derby, I have no confidence whatsoever in our current set of "galacticos", and I don't think Wilder has that influence any more.

having followed united for over 60 years i think the o.p. makes a lot of sense both sheffield clubs have had spells when one has been higher than the other it is possible it could swing back in to wednesday being the dominant force but i think it all depends on whether they come straight back up from league 1 if they dont at first time of asking they could well be in trouble being somebody who takes a peak on pigtalk now and again most on there dont want us to go down with them

One of the things that will benefit them is the fact that a lot of their more established players left during all the shambles, so now they're left with players who are either committed enough to have stayed through all of that, or young uns coming through from the academy who are desperate to prove themselves...and likelier to be from the local area/fans.

We, however, are currently sat with a bloated squad of disillusioned players...a lot of whom are on their last paydays...have no affiliation to the Blades whatsoever...and even some of the players who have shown heart before are now looking completely disinterested (see Campbell as a prime example).

Although the tide could change, they are more than likely down and could well do a Birmingham style revival. Its whether we go down this season or next realistically under this ownership. Relegation wouldn't be the end of the world this season, as it would lead to a fire sale of the dead wood, and also the chance to play the academy kids in the first team with a little less risk. Promoting the likes of Beattie and One to a front 2 and having Faxton in goal, could all be possibilities in League 1. Staying up by the skin of our teeth would probably be worse as the investment wouldn't be made, as we stayed in the Championship so why would they want to splurge more cash plus they are likely to sell Hamer and others too when the bids come in. Short term is likely to see the return of many of the loanees with others being signed. A victory for us on Sunday, is nothing more than 3 more points, a draw not the end of the world but a loss and things could start to turn more hostile.

Well I'm baffled after getting the View From. They are simultaneously on their way back whilst also being that bad we can't celebrate if we win. They're going to be above us in a few years so it's fine if we win but if they win it will suddenly be a turning point. A team of staff who specialise in things a single bloke can't dedicate time to?
