Growing up in the 90's most kids supported Wednesday and certainly in my circle of friends back then they all supported Wednesday but, I chose to be different. Maybe I like the underdog, maybe it was fate... by the mid 2000's the tide kind of turned a little, and you'd walk down a street and most kids would be sporting Sheffield United shirts, this has been the general theme ever since then but in the back of my mind I've always thought, will that tide ever swing again in their favour? If you'd have asked me in 2017 if it would, I would have laughed..

But now, in 2025, Sheffield Wednesday are going to be sold fairly soonish after ousting their owner, which means its gonna be a "new era" for them and a "fresh" start.. all the while we are languishing 2nd bottom, struggling to pick up draws nevermind wins... we look in a precarious position.. and youd have to wonder, if Sheffield Wednesday wasn't in the position they were RE owners, we could be bottom....

No.

All depends on the owners Wednesday attract. Ours are absolutely woeful.
Maybe they get lucky.

There's room for optimism at their end. Without another takeover at ours, I'm struggling to have anything to cling onto.

We're in a relegation battle which we might not find out way out of.
I'm not sure what our owners appetite is for the third tier.

Hard to believe how much they've dismantled in their short time here.

COH are the black guy.
Replace skittles with shit.

We’ll stay up, I’m more concerned with what happens then if the unsackable Wilder is still in place.

We'll get a DOF like Barnsley ,QPR, Stoke and Norwich then all will be fine.
We'll appoint 20 new managers in the next ten years like QPR and all will be fine.

Though fans will still be moaning about something.

Funny old game.

If we go down (I'm still in the camp that we won't but not as confident as I was) then it's quite possible they could be better than us next season if they get owners willing to spend and recruit reasonably.

Too early to tell but there are signs. Depends on their new ownership. We’re def on a downward trajectory though. Bear in mind that not that long ago we were in a pof & it seemed a real possibility that they would fold.
I tend to agree with this. They will definitely be going down but if they get new wealthy owners which they might then it could change things dramatically

Their fans are already turning out in big numbers with a new found optimism and this with investment from new owners would probably mean an immediate return to the championship on a high

This would be like us under Wilder in his first stint

We on the other hand appear to be under a cloud with little enthusiasm about and with owners who are almost invisible. If this carries on then who knows where we will be

Makes the weekend even more significant. It is potentially a pivotal match and full of juicy symbolism.

Wilder has put them in their place for years, but if they get a win they will be all over it and many of our fans will wet the bed.

We’re still better by any metric at the moment, but the stakes are high at the sty.

Football is great isn’t it 🙂

Experience says the smart money is on a dour 0-0 for Sunday although I think a defeat is highly likely.

Any side from Champ or top half of League One with a semblance of organisation and spirit will beat us. They will be set up to defend for their lives and try and nick one on the break.

We have a side full of confidence players with no confidence and few leaders. Doesn’t bode well for a derby.

As for the long term, who knows. There’s no guarantee they will bag themselves a rich owner.

Well we all know how it will pan out somebody will buy the pigs at a huge discount and have maybe £50m to spend on the team so I see them bouncing straight back into the Championship. No doubt the grunters will be full of themselves and all come out of the woodwork when they get better players, they might even have a run at the playoff's for the Prem. We on the other hand are stuck with American owners who have little money and even less of a clue how to run a club. The wheels of Sheffield football have just about turned full circle unless we get our act together get ready for a period of being the underdog and the poor relations. Once again we have failed to capitalise on our superiority over the pigs.

How do we know our owners do Not have any money ?
They have provided sufficient funds it has just been badly allocated
Question their management but not their commitment to spend

We are a good DOF away from a good set up, whether Wilder is the manager to keep us up and challenge for the premiership league remains to be seen

Agreed. We have actually spent abit since they've been here..

If we don’t get our act together quickly,in 2 years time they will accelerate past us,we have some very highly paid players on stupid wages, transfer values of buttons, underperforming and frankly not very good. End of parachute payments, owners that are clueless football wise,a very poor recruitment team and a management team that are stuck in the past. Rough times ahead.

We’ve had numerous opportunities down the years to stamp our authority on this city…and we’ve fucked it up every time. So we have only ourselves to blame if they come steaming past us from league 1.

I don’t see this game as a sliding doors moment, as even if they beat us their trajectory short term is downwards. Ours is also currently but safety from relegation is significantly easier for us.

If they beat us they’ll be saying the tide has turned whilst dropping down the toilet. What matters more is us avoiding the same drop, not worrying about their future.

Let's not forget that the only reason they "might" get rich owners, is because they are in fuckin administration. Someone could pick them up for relevant peanuts (in the football world).

Chansiri was a rich owner, at first, and at the end of his tenure, they still practice in an inflatable tent on council land, and play in a ground that looks closer to something from the 1930's rather than 2025.
