Is the squad really that thin?

You can't have watched our goals in the league so far this season and be thinking yep this is a sustainable way to keep scoring all season. Nowhere near enough in this squad. 1 or 2 injuries and we are seriously scratching around.

Don’t think it’s half as bad as what people are making out, it’s been a good window in my view, the only person that departed I was a bit sad with was Osula other than that I’m fine with it. I get depth but we have players that can play multiple positions and I think we’ll use at least 1 loan in January. Leeds don’t have a great deal of strikers but rely on good attackers I think we have that too, will have to wait and see but I back us. I’d also offer John Egan a 1 year deal too as cover if possible. UTB.

We have scored 9 goals this season and not too many by strikers. Are you sure it’s a potential problem ?
But not in the league, which is where it matters.

Preston 2
QPR 2
Norwich 1

That said, at least we're scoring away from home and have scored more than once at home.

We're going to need to average conceding less than 1 a game

That's the only way we'll be near where we need to be. Because there aren't enough goals in this team

Moore is capable of 20 but not with the type of service he'll get from our attacking midfielders

I have no confidence whatsoever that we'll be good enough defensively playing this system, despite being strong on paper. We won't be good enough defending from the front, we're weak at left back, and too much responsibility is on Souza to protect the defence, who isn't up to it and will usually be booked after 30 minutes

So I expect us to be well off the pace in January. And it's so unnecessary. Just another couple of loans could have transformed us. It's a massive waste, after all the good work prior to deadline day. I don't know why we'd choose to do this, as if this season isn't our best shot. It is. Because next summer we'll have to sell Arblaster and Hamer, plus the rest. We'll have a LOT more work to do after that, than we had to do this month. But despite that, we now appear to be gambling on next season

OK, we've had a fairly decent window, but the unavoidable conclusion for me is that we've needlessly stopped short of what was necessary and also easily achievable. It remains to be seen just how badly it will cost us

It all seems a bit like 2017-18: the first choice team were flying, but after Coutts had his leg broken we lost a key player and did not have enought to replace him.

There's still JTW of course, but this season, like that season, might be about consolidation.
