Is it the Charlton team, or the Posh team?

So, who do we play? The team that included Davies, Kennedy, etc or the team that got us to Wembley. Or, do we include Freeman in the team too?

We know that Nigel has much more insight into who has trained well, who has a cold, picked up a knock and so on, but who would you pick for this vital crunch game? Lose this one and realistically, the promotion push is over...isn't it?

We're not going to lose - the team has learned how to win and how to keep clean sheets - they know the formula and what to do to achieve it - Having watched the much changed side destroy Posh last week and the Cup victory on Sunday I have no doubt that Mr Clough and his charges are well up for tonight's game and will be looking for another victory !!

I believe so too...no matter who Nigel chooses. Everyone will be up for it. Such a fantastic run, nobody will want it to end. Just wondering who the everyone up for it will be.

I think it will be a bit of both, nige knows how to rotate the squad so i can see davis in for beard and possibly paynter or porter starting at least

Considering our next game after tonight is Monday then I would go with the strongest team as possible. There will be players who will be feeling the effect of Sunday and those who will have recovered.

I would think Nigel would want the first team out still, got to keep on winning. Might see other faces in if the players with knocks are not ready. Peterborough game was a one off in my opinion with the injuries we picked up before the game.

I see Porter/Paynter, with the other coming on as a sub, plus Davies and Freeman. I expect the Beard to play too as he has not played all season, fresh as they come at this point of the season...providing, of course, there is no calf problem.

The under 21s played earlier and Kennedy didn't play which would suggest to me that he will be in the squad. McFadzean played so won't be in the squad tonight. That's it really, hoping for the same team as the weekend.

Not a bit of it. It's quite simple - we have to aim for 6th spot, nothing else. We only have one 'six pointer' left to play - Swindon away. (Six pointer being games where we are and 7th place) Losing to any of the top five teams is not disastrous. Peterborough have 'six-pointer' games to come against MKD, Bradford & Port Vale.

Trust me, lose tonight and it's a blow but not the end of our play-off push.

I'd be happy with Kennedy starting, he played well against the Posh and I think the boy needs some more confidence. First team tonight with some experimental options on the bench should be the order of the day.

So is our game against port vale not a 6 pointer ?

Im very suprised he didnt rest more players last night, 6 rested against pboro who are a better team than only the 1 change against carlisle, the players were out on their feet last night, put a right shift in, lets hope this doesnt come back to bite us, great result but i reckon we would have got atleast that with the fresh players coming in,but hey who am i to question sir nigel, nice one lads

Me too Wizadry. Quite surprised Nigel didn't apply more changes. However, I think he saw it might be possible to kill the game off with the dream team in the first 45, then through 3 subs on.

I do think he also felt it was a must win, with a few very tough games on the horizon where points may be harder to find. In hindsight, probably correct, but I think we may see another one or two rested in the next game.

We are now just about safe, Nigel's first priority. Now, I believe, we can gamble on a push for promotion and rotate the squad more. If it doesn't come off, it wasn't expected anyway, if it does, fabulous.

I think you will find that NC will play his strongest team available until we either reach or end any possibility of us getting into that 6th play off spot.

Only other time he will rest anyone is just before the Semi - There is no doubt at all that he wants to win that as well.
Thing is the remit was always survival so once this is achieved (50+ points in the bag) he can just have a go.
It's a kind of freedom not often afforded a manager.
