Is he good enough though?

Only in S2 would the 2nd most consistent / prolific goal scorer in the country over the last 3 years (yes that’s last / most recent / not living in a golden patch 10 years ago) be awarded the embarrassing levels of credit that this lad gets.

Well. he was in the right place at the right time for his goal. That's vital. It's a real talent and not to be underestimated. He contributed very little apart from that. He rarely does. Consistently.
Got to disagree. Sometimes yes, but not rarely.

And your use of the 2 words “squad player” as opposed to regular starter should draw precisely what conclusion of your view ??

Your words, not mine ;).

he is being derogatory .. perhaps he thinks it’s too subtle for us?

I think Billy can chip in with goals. And would be useful depending on the game and the time. I don't think he's a nailed on starter. However I think he has an important role to play, either like today starting or off the bench. Billy doesn't suit all situations is what I'm getting at, but is a very useful tool in the squad.

Why does there have to be a comparison between the two? Why does it have to be one or the other?

Can we not just appreciate the fact that they both bring positives to our team?

Give me a positive from Leon Clarke post-December 2017

If by chipping in you mean playing 2nd fiddle in the goal scoring charts (in the LAST 3 years to the £100m + rated Harry Kane), then I guess whatever point you are trying to make is well made.

He scored 13 last season in how many starts?

What’s your counter evidence to suggest he wouldn’t?

He's past his best. Its not his fault, age catches up with us all. He's slower both physically and mentally than he was. He got into a great position today. He doesn't do so as often as he used to. In any event, what right has he to play 'most games'? Does he get a Bladey free pass? From where I was sitting Tufty was absolutely right to leave him out when he did. A tap-in today [for which he deserves much credit] is no entitlement to 'told you so' or two fingers up to the doubters. Nowhere near.
