Shoulda added that person to friends and family online and youd get a seat togetherMine arrived today. With the one per person limit I had tried to simultaneously book with someone else so we sat together. This has worked in the past but this time we are miles apart. Annoyingly the box office seems to be now allowing multiple ticket sales
Funny how there's no one making a one-off special trip from deepest Siberia to get to this game and moaning because they don't have enough points but can only get to the odd game*.
*The odd game by definition being coincidentally the biggest game of the season and the first time they've been to any game in about 10 years.
On the contrary, Ipswich is a great place for a pre/post match drink. The Dove Street Inn is in my top 10 away pubs of all time. The Spread Eagle is also worth a dart, it's essentially an outlet for The Grain Brewery. The Arcade Tavern is worth a go if you lean towards bar rather than pub. (Not specifically aimed at you S64 Blade) and each to their own, but I never quite get the "it's shit there" attitude that pops up. I'm not a big drinker. So I need a maximum of three good Brewery Taps, Real Ale Pubs, Craft Beer Bars. I can always find three, anywhere. The time of year and the fact that Ipswich is one of the least inspiring places in the country, make it a great turnout.
That's me and our young un fucked then![]()
Thought of that Rooks owes me anywayHow many times do they advertise away games as ticket only, don't sell out, then when you get to the game there's a cash only turnstile?
If we're sending 800 tickets back I'd be really surprised if Ipswich wouldn't take your money on the gate. If 100 Blades turned up without a ticket would dibble rather have 100 pissed off and pissed up fans marauding around Ipswich pubs and town centre, or get them safely in the ground?
If you're still unsure about chancing it, give Rooker a bell, I'm sure he'd be able to sort something.
OK, its a fair cop, me and Minnie on the London choo choo again maybe looking like this after a few sodas in the Briarbank and a blades win.Yes we should Michael.
I admit my scathing comments are fairly ill-informed. I’ve not ventured around the centre enough to give a fair assessment; but I just had the impression it was pretty dull.On the contrary, Ipswich is a great place for a pre/post match drink. Ipswich is indeed shite mate, I’ve been twice and I certainly won’t be going back or out of my way with Christmas around the corner, with two kids and the team seemingly only wanting to turn up for 45 minutes. My money needs spending on things that mean more (and I don’t say that lightly, trust me) and people that don’t take the piss out of the paying customer, plus it’s a reyt donkey ride.I admit my scathing comments are fairly ill-informed. Fair enough. I'm an Atheist, so I don't have any particular extra expense in December. I take my hat off to the 1500 or so that will make the journey, you have my deepest respect. I’ve been in home ends all over the country so don’t anyone go bringing the bigger blade bollocks into it either. I’ll be at Wigan though and I already have the tickets so I’ll see the solid 1200 there.![]()
It’s not always about yourself though is it Phil?Fair enough. I'm an Atheist, so I don't have any particular extra expense in December. Some great pubs in Ipswich, more than enough for me.
Indeed it is irrelevant but I’m commenting on the couple of times I’ve been there and they’ve both been crap days out although the results weren’t bad, just personal preference mate.Indeed Ipshit is a shithole, no worse than any other similarly sized town in the uk though! Surely the state of a town should be irrelevant as you are going to watch a match?

Our resident tiler has come up trumps and told me there is a pay on the day turnstile. Followed it with a 10 minute monologue about how good take that areHow many times do they advertise away games as ticket only, don't sell out, then when you get to the game there's a cash only turnstile?

If truth be told though I’m the same really, I just like to give my kids presents until they make their own minds up, it’s an excuse to spoil the kids (not that I need it) but why should I spoil Utd or Ipswich in this instance? Ipswich are a scum club to me anyway.
I am classified as someone who loves pubs, the only problem is that those who care to me will always come first and I love a good piss up, trust me Phil.
I’ve sacrificed enough to the Blades already and I’m only 35 years young so no one is going to come on here and start spouting bollocks to those that choose to not go on a donkey ride on all the A roads under the sun in a very hectic and costly period.

Is the Sporting Farmer still going?
Booo, I just loved the Irn Bru looking Tolly Cobbold bitter from plastic glasses in there.Shut around 2004! Later became the Drum and Monkey and closed in 2016. Was demolished a few months ago I believe.

Grinning Rat is a good boozer too.Ipswich as a town is like a lot of small town places that are struggling and it certainly has lost a lot of its shops, character and pubs. However, I agree with Phil that for finding good pubs before the game its way better than many other places of comparable size, they are just a bit further out. However from memory in January they do open at 10...The Fat Cat is a hike but worth it, Dove St a cracking pub, there’s that brewpub upstairs near the docks, the traditional Adnams 2 bar pub Grey Horse I think not far from the ground and I think a micro pub heading away from town.
Wouldn’t want to live there but decent enough for good variety of pre match pubs.
If you lived abroad and couldn't back very often for games, would you coincide your trip back to England for a game against Ipswich or against the pigs?
There’s been some sly digs mate which doesn’t go unnoticed.Do what you like, mate. I haven't seen anyone on here really criticising those who aren't going to Ipswich but if there are any, screw 'em. You're clearly a decent fan, no need to be defensive.
