Interesting insight into yesterday

Thoroughly glued to that read. Amazing insight. Wonder if it will be made in to a Tv documentary as the site suggests?

Interesting that Leonard and Lenihan were never in the final mix - although for months they've been the main topic on here.

Trust in CW/AN !

"...Trust in CW/AN..."

That would be CW/AK, but I will let you off as I love Gretsch guitars.

Wonder who the club was, one of the ones after Nathan Thomas on loan, when CW says something like "no, not them, they will have him back tracking", or something like that?

Based on the evidence, I'd say the pigs :D

Moment of madness ! Haha

Wonder which team it was that wilder says about Thomas, "he's not going there, he'll be tracking back all day."

Great article and sums agents up perfectly. I'm both shocked and happy that the club allowed this access to a journalist, says a lot about the way Wilder conducts himself that he's happy to be followed on the busiest day of the year and came across very well (as ever).

On the Cole deal what is the scope for loans from lower placed league clubs? I've only ever known it for higher placed clubs.

Massive shame we were forced to retain Hanson who is basically there as 5th choice and would have been better served getting a move.

Also a shame that we didn't get a fee for Bradford, didn't really say much in the article about that though. Seems bizarre to me to let him go to a rival for free.

Really interesting article that. Just confirms my suspicions about the majority of football agents.
Didn't know Jake Speight was now an agent - thought he was still playing in non-league.

Coles agent doesn't seem much different was quite surprised that we heard about his availability from his dad
I thought Coles dad was his agent at first. If it was he'd be on the bench at Sunderland.

Can't players just sack their agents ? Or are the agents in a contract with the player ? So to sack the agent means it costs the player. I have no idea what goes on really.

What would we do in this situation ? Arrange our own work ? I'd like to think I would say fuck off I'm working for them.

I think so many players are that paranoid of being undercut, they hire these wankers to get 'the best' and sometimes it backfires like Sinclair. He's in Sheffield, wanting to play for the Blades and then hired help, not his actual employer, rings and says he can't, so he gets the train home !! What the absolute fuck is going on.

Burton Albion

This can't be right.

I have it on good authority, from football experts, who are the only ones who tell it like it is, that we didn't sign our targets because we didn't offer enough to the selling clubs as we lack ambition and weren't committed to spending in the first place.

But imagine Wilder with £10 million. It'd be another 100 points job

To be fair, that version of reality is very, very popular - with some

What I don't understand is that there was at least one player who was obviously pissed off to the highest degree that it fell through while he was sat on his bags at midland station. If players are let down so badly by their agents, why not get another one or are they in golden handcuffs?

Sinclair might have words with his agent

But his agent will reply 'You've played 2 (TWO) matches for Liverpool and it was ME that's set you up for life getting you £20,000 a week at Watford". 9 times out of 10 the dirty tactics used by the agent would work because when clubs are desperate they'll pay whatever.

The agent knew we were desparate for a striker but he didn't figure coming up against Chris Wilder who is doing the game as great service by refusing to play games.

The shame is that Sinclair and Quinna probably aren't that bothered. They've achieved nothing in football, hardly even played a game but in their eyes both are set up for life so both probably feel that they've already made it.

This is a lesson for David Brooks. If Man City offered him £25K a week to sit in the reserves and not play first team football for years, would he accept the contract if it meant not playing any meaningful football.

Really fantastic insight and article. I think Big Hans will get a move in January and Cole will come in, unless new wealthy investors appear. Sure we won't see anyone coming in represented by the agent that just messed us about - so neither of the other two mentioned will arrive. What surprised me is that 6 clubs were angling to take Thomas on loan so soon after we've signed him - that's a bit odd.

We let David Unsworth go to a rival for nowt with no detriment to us.

With regard to agents and in particular the 2 loanees Quina and Sinclair I am very surprised at how much influence their agent has had over where they play on loan, surely its up to the parent club where they go how much the loan fee will be and if the parent club pays a percentage of their wages
Im sure Wilder wouldnt be dictated to by an agent if we were sending a player out on loan

Superb insight, great great read. Gutted we didnt sign more, but thats the nature of the beast with this frigging transfer window.
