Interesting insight into yesterday

Absolutely fascinating. Thank you designedbyross, thank you Wilder and his men. One of the best articles I have ever read.

Love Wilder and love his two men, Knill and Mitchell. Dead right Knill, Donaldson is a great aquisition. Interesting to read Wilder worked with him at Halifax and has tried to sign him 4 times. That's about the man, in fact the two men, knowledge and just knowing football and all of them knowing a good footballer and character..

Absolutely fantastic article, just worrying how we haven't got a pot to piss in even after receiving all the sell on clause money. I much more confident Donaldson wasn't a panic buy now though.

Also highlights the corruption and differences within players agents. While Heneghan's agent seems like a decent and straight forward bloke just getting the job done, Sinclair and Quina have been unlucky enough to end up with a complete tosser dictating their careers for the sake of his pockets.

I'm liking the sound of Paul Mitchell. Very much a wilder esque character it seems, so much different to the fat orange skinned tosser that Adkins brought in who laughed when we lost.

Him and Adkins looked like a pair of Mormons to me. I'm sure they've been round our house on a sunday morning, door knocking.

Amazing insight. I'd love to see some of the WUMS and trolls passing some sort of view on a report like this rather than where they choose to operate.

True but Sinclair and Quinna are BOTH on fantastic salaries and set up for life due to their glorified used car salesman of an agent.

The issue I have is if you give youngsters the 2 options

Option A: Be in David Brooks position in the perfect position for developement playing a few games on £7,000 a week (4 year contract) or Option B; Be Sinclair or Quinna on £21,000 a week (4 year contract) never playing a league match and permenently banished to the reserves.

I reckon the bottom line for many youngsters is option A offers a gauranteed £1.5 million gross where's as option B offers a gauranteed £4.5 million gross.

So many youngsters would much rather be in Sinclair shoes than Brook's shoes.

Fascinating – had Fleetwood put word out that Cole was available for free to bring in interest, always with the intention of upping the fee I wonder? The behaviour of the Sinclair/Quina agent is just bizarre.

Other snippets of interest:
  • We were prepared to sell Hanson for £200k had the other deals come off (I'm glad we have kept him given they haven't)
  • We wanted to loan Thomas out (I'm wondering if CW is having 2nd thoughts on his signing)
  • Hadn't realised CW managed Donaldson at Halifax, which raises my hopes he'll be a success
  • Evans likely needs ankle surgery. What was his injury at Chesterfield again that flared up again in January? His ankle? "He's over his injuries" they said...
Doesn't say we wanted to loan Thomas out, says his agent wanted it. Thomas didn't want to go, sounded like Wilder didn't either (but was willing to)

I love the whole thing- article, Wilder and where we're going.

Saying that, if all came off, wouldn't Sinclair, Cole, Quinna & Donaldson have been overkill anyway??

I know Chef & Lavery are out, leaves us Billy, Donaldson, Clarke, Brooks, then Hanson & Thomas if we need/are desperate. That's okay innit??

And hopefully Cole in January (this might already have been sorted for all we know). Bloody shame the loan rules have been changed though, that'd have sorted it

Imagine being Sinclair.

Sat at Sheffield train station waiting to sign. In the meantime your agent, who works for you, is not only trying to up the fees which were agreed a week ago but also tie the deal to a player who doesn't even play for the same team!

If I was Sinclair, I'd be lamping the agent as soon as i saw him and sacking him right off.

Redknapp came out of the article wuite well. I wonder who the other Championship manager was he confided in? Maybe Heckingbottom or Rowett? Seemed to get on well with both. Didn't give the inpression he knew Warnock that well before.

Devante Cole has obviously missed out on a big pay rise and the opportunity to play in front of 26,000 every week instead of 2,600 at Fleetwood and all because of a cunt agent !

Read the article. He is under contract at Fleetwood they wanted the fee of £500,000. Late in the day Fleetwood agree £200,000 but it is too late for the deal to go through. Cole's agent Stretford wanted the deal to go through for a payday for himself and for Cole.

So it appears his agent Stretford although he may be a c"nt in general, is not one on this occasion. Fleetwood were to 'blame' if anyone.

Lets hope those agents (twats) read that repprt amd remember next time that they can't fuck with WILDER, KNILLY AND MITCHELL (sound like solicitors!!!).

Feel for those lads who wanted to come but missed out but hey, maybe next time they will have a bit more involvement and will have learned that even at their tender ages, they can tell someone who works for them what they want.

Based on the Bleacher report, my respect for CW, AK AND PM has grown immensly from a very high point anyway. It appears to me that they were determined to work within their budget and were not going to be 'fannied abaht' by greedy bastards!

Agree with you about Donaldson. Just shows that although a deal seems rushed & last minute it has, more than likely, been going on all day.

Have to disagree about your "pot to piss in" quote though. It didn't say we only have 200k/500k/1 million to spend. It just said Wilder said no chance to a certain fee for a certain player.

The way I read it was Wilder decided said player was not worth x amount. Would we not rather it be this way than spending over a players valuation?

I love that this man is in charge of my club

I'd also have loved to know what the email said from the Owners RE: spending power. Sure lots on here would too ! hahaha

Yeh Fleetwood knew we were DESPERATE for a striker and obviously felt confident that we'd pay whatever they asked.
We called there bluff and refused. This must have shocked them...so they came back to us and accepted the earlier bid that they'd refused earlier in the day.

Cole and his dad will be well pi$$ed off with the heirachy at Fleetwood.

wonder who the villa player on £54k per week who was being touted about?

McCormack??

I wasn't a Clough fan and am definitely not anti-Wilder but I can't help feeling Nigel would be/was slagged off for going for old players of his. Different manager, different perceptions I guess. I fancy Nigel won on the Brayford brinkmanship though -paid nowt and got his player.

Good luck to the new signings.UTB

We did the same with Hull and Maguire a couple of years ago.

Agree entirely but not the agents 'fault' on this occasion just brinkmanship between clubs that got too close to the line but not over it.

Of all the arguments against clough his recruitment wasn't really one of then. It was more than decent in the end with a number of good players signed from Derby, he did spend a fair amount tho.
