Inter Blades update...

Good morning all,

I’ve not posted the Inter Blades results etc. on here for a while as we now have our own website, message board and mailing list etc, so I’ve just been posting on there.

This is just an update really; the guys have been playing really well this season despite not winning in their first seven games. We’ve not really played against anyone better than ourselves; it’s just a combination of bad luck, not taking our chances and the occasional sloppy bit of defending which we always seem to get punished for (sound familiar!).

The boys have finally got it together though in the last few games, winning 3-1 in the 1<SUP>st</SUP> round of the IFA cup away at Cambridge (en-route to West Ham), then on Saturday we beat a very good Forest side 4-1 at home in the second round of the cup (both games count towards league points as well).

This Saturday see’s the big local derby away against neighbours <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" /><st1lace>Rotherham</st1lace>. The Internet Millers defeated us 5-2 earlier in the season, it was one of those games though where we played really well but came up against a very talented Millers keeper and conceded some terrible goals in the second half. Seeing as though there’s no Blades footy to watch on Saturday, if you’re bored in the morning then head down to the pitch at Canklow (on Canklow road, just off Centenary Way) and give the boys some support.

He's been playing really well this season, I've found a bit of an agressive streak in him so I've slotted him in at right full back a few times and he's settled in there well. Although, we did push him up front on Saturday for the last fifteen and he had a couple of good chances there too. I think he just wants to emulate his mentor (me) and play everywhere

As Liam mentioned, it's a pretty good standard nowadays. When we first started out there were always teams you could batter by double figures occaisonally, but those days have long gone.

I know that we've got a couple of players that have played at a decent level in their younger years, and also we've got a few that should and could play at a higher level now... I'm not going to tell them that though in case they do!

Aye, we'd be up for that, only thing though, it'd have to be on a Saturday morning before a Blades match (or when there's a free weekend). Most of the lads already play Sunday league, plus quite a few of the team are from outside of Sheffield (myself included) and only come in for matches when the Blades are at home.

There's a possibility that we may be free on Sat 30th before the Arsenal game, I've not managed to line us up any IFA opponents so far, failing that it would probably have to be in the new year.
