The Inter Blades brought home some silverware last weekend at the Sports Interactive (Worldnet) Tournament 2007 in Leeds. After a disastrous opening day, the Inter Blades stormed through to the "Bowl" final and beat Grimsby 1-0 with a late goal.

Many thanks to SUFC once again for publishing an article about our exploits on the official SUFC website.

Cheers, it was a long weekend (first game at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday!) but well worth it, looking forward to going back next year and competing in the "Cup" or the "Plate" next season though.

I'm bloody knackered now though! still!

I still ache from it! Got some nice bruises too.

well done boys, only bit of silverwear sufc will see in a while now :p

peds how can they do better next year... they won it :p

I wish! Sorry Keenzy, just to clairfy, we won the "Bowl" which is the least prestigious of the three knockout tournaments on Day 2 of the Tournament. The "Cup" is the top one, then the "Plate", then the "Bowl".

Still an achievement all the same, but all the lads know we should have been competing in the Plate at least. Had it not been for Danny Shepherds unfortunate injury then we probably would have gone on to draw or win that last game on the Saturday (against Yeovil) which would have qualified us for the Plate competition. It was just into the second half of the last game when Danny's leg was broken by a late challenge, we were 1-0 down at the time but well on top and would have scored at least one, but due to the seriousness of the injury the ref abandoned the match and the score stood as it was. Getting Danny sorted out and off to hospital was more important at the time so we didn't mind. It gave us the opportunity to bring back the Bowl anyway so we can't grumble.

The team that won the main "cup" RC Lens were a very good side indeed, the side they beat in the final, Castle Rock , are a semi-pro Irish team, that shows you the standard!

You should have seen the Arsenal Nigeria side! Wow, very big guys, incredibly skillful and the pace of one of their strikers was unbelievable.

We'll be going back next year with a bigger squad and more prepared for it now we've sampled it once.

ah my bed pedders. thought it was a bowl throphy this yeat and a plate next year, then a cup year after. thought they had different items :p

ouch on the broken players leg, sounds nasty. hope he gets it sorted and playing again.

if you needed any defenders id play but id show you all up ;)

[my fitness is really bad :p]

good luck next year!
