Good evening all,

Not posted much on here (or anywhere for that matter) from the Inter Blades of recent as I've been a bit tied up with a few things and we've been going through a bit of a reorganisation.

Anyway, it's the end of season WorldNet competition this weekend. 64 fans teams mainly from England and Scotland (plus one from Ireland, France and Nigeria) compete for the prestigious IFA Cup Trophy. Whilst a further 24 teams compete for the Veterans Bowl (over 30's).

The tournament actually kicks off on the Friday evening, when an England fans side (picked from all the English IFA teams) faces it's Scottish Counterparts. England deservedly triumphed 2-1 yesterday evening, with Inter Blades defender Mark Ashton representing the 3 Lions.

Onto day one of WorldNet, well, what can I say, the results speak for themselves. Seven wins out of seven, topping our group and qualifying for the Main IFA Cup knockout competition on day two. Unfortunatley I wasn't there to witness it myself as my wife was due to give birth yesterday... still waiting!

We have drawn Halifax in the 1st round of the knockout stage, so I'll let you know how we get on tomorrow

Bloody hell Danny, where did that lot come from? Anything to do with you not being there... ;)

All the best for the knockout stages mate - and with the sprog too.

Inter Blades beat Halifax 3-0 in their first knockout game on day two. Aaron Tinder with a hattrick.

Crystal Palace up next at 1:00pm

I'm sure the over 30's would prefer to be classed as 'masters' not veterans...:D

Too true, hoping to enter an Inter Blades side into the Vets comp next season after the success of getting all the old boys (Inter Blades Legends) together for our anniversary game earlier in the season. Also means that I might get a game!

Inter Blades out at the last 16 stage, knocked out 1-0 courtesy of a horrendous penalty decision Vs Cystal Palace. Always disappointing to lose to a team that doesn't actually play IFA fixtures i.e. a Sunday League side!), but that's life.

Evening all,

Just in case anyone is interested... thought I'd let you know how Palace did after they knocked us out and who eventually won the main tournament.

After defeating us fortuitously, Palace then beat Preston "A" (this seasons IFA League Champions) 1-0 in the 1/4 final, before losing on penalties (after a 0-0 draw) in the Semi Finals to Bradford (another non-IFA team!).

Bradford went onto lift the trophy, defeating RC Lens 1-0 in the final.

So, we were beaten by a dodgy penalty only, by a team that went on to defeat the IFA Champions and only lose on penalties to the eventual winners. That puts it into perspective how well the lads ha've done this weekend.

cheers,

Over 30's in my view is neither masters nor veterans, it's wet behind the ears whippersnapper territory.

I think it's unlikely there'll be an over 50's tournament, so I think I'll have to hang up the silver boots, competitively at least, though I intend to be available for next year's Interblades Legends (that's a decent description for the temporally challenged) against the Young'Uns.

By the way Danny, I have to say your "I've been a bit tied up with a few things" as a euphemism for imminent fatherhood is a very impressive understatement!

The better team won, but shocking decision from the referee.
Never good to be knocked out by such a decision.
Even the linesman said it wasn't a penalty, and their player apologised to me as well.
