You could technically add Oli Burke & Luke Freeman to that list.
Presume they'll be getting treated back with us now too. Both out for the season.
I did weigh up adding those two but neither can play for us this season. Additionally, Freeman will be released in June and will next play at the Lane for someone else.

As far as I am aware the injuries have happened in matches … so why is it the training pitches fault ?

The considered opinion is that going from the heavy, soft outdoor pitches at Shirecliffe to the firm Desso at the Lane (and elsewhere) causes the issues.

Didzy looked a bad one, not sure how he did it though??
He did it in the match against WBA. He was running down the right towards the Kop end with no player really near him. He got in an early cross but he seemed slightly off balance to me with his weight on his right side almost losing his balance as he hit the ball. He then did lose his balance and went down heavily and it was obvious straight away he had got a bad injury. May have been the twisting motion of his leg and then the impact as his foot planted on the ground with his weight on it.

Currently:

George Baldock: unknown injury, unknown return
Chris Basham: knee injury, out for around a month
Jayden Bogle: knee injury, out for around 5 months
Rhian Brewster: hamstring injury, out for around 3 months
Ben Davies: calf injury, might be back for Wednesday's game but unlikely to be 100% fit
John Fleck: groin injury, might be back for Wednesday's game but unlikely to be 100% fit
Charlie Goode: cartilage injury, unknown return
Oli McBurnie: dead leg, might be back for Wednesday's game
David McGoldrick: thigh injury, out for around 3 months
Jack O'Connell: knee injury, return unknown
Ben Osborn: knock, returned recently but not 100% fit
Enda Stevens: calf injury, return unknown

The Baldock one is the one I was surprised at because he was supposed to be back on the grass last week, can't remember what day, I think it was early next week, and now Hecky's said that he's going for another scan so clerly he's had another problem.

I've also red on here I think that Osborn and Hourihane are being managed so they're carrying knocks also, I presume!

Martin Cranie still available?!

My view is that there is a combination of issues causing the injury crisis. When Hecky took over training intensified significantly. Its a long season and getting the balance right over the season is tricky if you felt Slav had them undercooked. The training facilities obviously have been called out as a concern. Playing on heavy surfaces increases stress on the muscles and while the player feels fine it can result in an injury when playing a match.

I saw a documentary a number of years ago about AC Milan Lab. Which is how they assess players fitness. Every two weeks the player goes through tests to check balance and reflexes etc.
They are also asked how they feel. 8 or lower out of 10 they were not in the squad for the next match. The combination of scientific and psychological elements meant that players were rested at the right times. This lead to a huge reduction in muscle injuries. Their main injuries under this system were the normal collision type in matches and training matches.

Some of our players in particular Egan have been playing alot this season. And as you get older you also increase the chances of picking up an injury for example Stevens and Baldock.

I assume the 5 will be McBurnie, Stevens, Davies, Bash, Baldock

Jack seemed to hint Fleck might be back in the squad tomorrow.

Hopefully Billy's isn't too serious

This doesn’t sound good regarding Billy

Remember when the Tabloids were printing Beckham's foot when he broke his metatarsal before the World Cup in Japan?

We'll be the Sammy with Billy's hammy!

Just looking at our run-in and those 8 games are far from easy, especially the first three 😓

We're in dire need of this break, and we're in even greater need of some bodies back, and some good fortune.

Just to recap then, we are presently missing:

Bogle - Best wing back
O'Connell - Best centre back
Brewster - Record signing
McBurnie - 3rd record signing
McGoldrick - Last season's top scorer
Sharp - This season's top scorer

We don't do things by halves, do we?

So definitely no Bogle, Brewster, McG or McBurnie if we make the play offs? If so I can see why PH might want to protect Billy a bit.

Also will Burke be available if we make the play offs? Not saying he should start, but he's a striker.

Anyone else worried again like last season? 9 players missing today. 😳
Wes
Davies
O'Connell
Bogle
Norrington-Davies
Stevens
Doyle
Sharp
McBurnie

What's happened to Enda, I thought he was fit? Of the injured ones, Bogle, McBurnie, Sharp and O'Connell we know are from last season/last century it seems - that's not meant to be a dig either at JOC! Wes is supposed to be closed to returning, I would assume so is RND. Doyle getting injured without even playing a match is v annoying.

The Sharp one is strange though because Hecky said he had a chance of the play off final if we get there. Its now 2 months on.
Think he's said since that because they were rushing him for the play offs that it has put Sharp back for returning this pre-season. Essentially my guess if that he's re-injured himself trying to get fit for the play off final.
