There will only be a managerial change if Adkins decided to resign, we don't have the cash to pay him off.

And the day Chris Wilder becomes manager it will be an admission that we have settled for being a lower league club for the next decade.

Oops..

Missed the target by some distance with that one. :)

I will say it loud and clear
under Wilder and Knill , got to give credit to both , next season we will compete all season and I think theres no reason we wont be around the top 8
I fancy us to make the play offs as Wilder recreates the atmosphere of 1990

which will be nice

To be fair to me (someone has to be) I very quickly and comprehensively revised that opinion and posted accordingly. I can't be bothered to find it but it's there and, which is more, I've since backed him with as much enthusiasm as anyone. Indeed, much greater enthusiasm than some Bladey types who were counting on him being a long ball merchant and thus restoring their Comfort Upanatem Neanderthal Tossers Zone. It spells what? My word! That's a co-incidence. Hadn't spotted that!

The underlying facts that led to my erroneous conclusion were substantially correct, though. However, I had underestimated what he achieved at Northampton and, not being hugely interested in League two, had wrongly assumed that his Northampton team must be hoofing it.

What about the seven "likes" I got! Where are they now in my hour of need?....

Davy Weir's Red and White Army....

Maybe underestimated Alan Knill.

He certainly did!

The interview he gave after the game compressed all the anger, frustration and misery of the season into six wonderful minutes.

Listen again just for shits and giggles: Nigel Adkins on Scunthorpe defeat

I don't know about that being particularly hilarious tbh. Remove the Adkins bingo and the basic message is one of a season of frustration – with his chief annoyance being the lack of flexibility to bring players in to replace those that needed replacing. If anything it puts the contrast in the jobs he and Wilder came into writ large – Adkins only able to bring in a handful while trying his best to convince teams to buy our garbage, while Wilder had the smallest squad I've seen anyone inherit. That's not to say Adkins didn't exacerbate the problems he faced through extremely poor decision-making, and I actually think the worst part of that interview is in his parting shot to fans to effectively just put up with it.

One thing is certain – it's all turned out for the best for the club. This season has been a joy to support us through.

I wrote the post with a sarcastic tone (in my head) and didn't mean to sound as if I actually believed it was funny!

Adkins made the worst of a bad hand and it was painful to behold for the however many months he was in charge.

However, it is possible to look back on last season in a more light hearted manner now that we are so far removed from that situation - even though it still leaves a bit of a sour taste in the mouth.

It certainly funny to look back at some of the reactions at the beginning of the post. Let's see how it go's on here if we lose a few in a row in the championship.

Indeed. There's a bingo game to be played

Taken us as far as he can
Not up to the championship
Lost the plot / dressing room
Tactically inept
Etc etc

We'll get that even if we start well and then drift to mid table

If this happens and Adkins is pushed out, then that's it. Won't be going again until McCabe and co have fucked off. They'll have to do without the £50 I give them every season....

The manager is the one thing that doesn't need changing.
New Owners, new players, new culture, new long strategy, new scouts (if we even have some).
All of that needs changing.

After years of ridiculing Chris Wilder for manager, we are slowly but surely sinking to his level

100% behind Adkins, but when the time comes, I reckon Wilder will be in contention.

But will he turn out to be the next Warnock :), or Adams :(??

As will I. Only in S2 would the fans even contemplate getting rid of a manager of NA's proven record of both achievement and performance after less than a season. Some of you want to give a new meaning to Manager of the Month.

I don't suggest we are doing well, that I am enjoying this season or that things are not very frustrating at the moment, but...

For Fuck's Sake stop the perpetual knee jerking and give a good man time!!!

Yep with a back ground he has it would be almost impossible for him at the lane. Can you imagine the situation unfolding if things don't go well for him,his private and social life would be turned upside down.No matter what happens with Adkins we have to steer clear of Chris Wilder for his and the blades sakes. He maybe would love the job but I hope it never happens.
Wow bringing that up nearly two years ago.Amazing what he has done,I wasn't on my own thinking like that .After what happened with Adams I was afraid history would repeat it's self.
History has been made and I am so happy I was wrong.Wilder is on course to be our greatest ever manager. Thanks Mr Mccabe for finally getting the right man

If the internet was around when we signed that Skinny kid from Watford in the late 60s I am sure everyone knew he would develop into one of the top two players ever to play for us.

Some amazing comments on this thread, needs pinning!
(Just need to search through it now to see what I said!)

He wouldn't get a mention if he had no United connections. He's a complete nonentity.

Bladey Bladey Claptrap. It never changes. Sack a manager with a proven record of success after less than a season and bring in a former Blade on the back of 15 years of not much.

Only in S2...."

It's good job Pinchy has ventured into the real world past the end of Shoreham Street or S13, pity we couldn't have kept Adkins.

Bladeyblade claptrap started by someone with an agenda and someone who knows Greggs' old boss as a sparky ...

take a bow Pinchy ... a cunt of the highest order, par excellence (this is where I'd put an up yours two fingered salute if I know how to, probably due to not venturing past Shoreham Street)

As good as Chris Wilder's post match interviews are I personally think that Shteeve Maclarens post match interviews are comedy gold, especially if they've lost, which knowing Shteeve they usually have

Your wishes may be about to come true?
