Hypothetical question.

If you could sign just one of the players we currently have on loan at the end of the season who would it be and why;

Coady
Brayford
Davies
Paynter

Its a tough one for me, and I think for most people it'll be between Coady and Brayford.

Coady has youth and development on his side, Brayford has the beard and everything else a right back needs.

Brayford wins it, just, for me. 26 and so many good years left. I know it's probably easier to find a good right back than a box to box midfielder but he just oozes class.

Brayford for me. He's the full back we've been crying out for since Lowton left, back 4 looks a completely different beast these days with him and the whisperer in there.

Brayford - by a country mile. What we have been missing since Naughton/Lowton.

Coady - better than when he arrived and improving still but don't think he would be that hard to replace.
Davies - not seen enough to be critical, but we have a few people who can play his posttion.
Paynter - poor mans Chris 'Penalty' Porter.

Ok ok, I reckon Brayford would be the winner - but what if I throw in out of contract players like Howard, Hill, Flynn and Harris...

As it stands I think all of those will be offered new contracts.

I'd love Brayford at the Lane but I think we need to be realistic. To get him, we've got to make the Play Offs and get promoted OR win the Cup and get into Europe! I'd be ecstatic if we could get him permanent but I'm hoping that Clough is already looking for alternative options, as similar to style/quality as possible to him, already.

So, realistically, Coady.

Young, developing, schooled the right way in Liverpool's academy. I thought he's be a sitting MF when he joined but he's more suited to the box to box role, he has an eye for a goal and he will only get better over the coming years. Already good enough for L1, I expect he'll make a good Championship midfielder too as he develops. He's exactly the sort of player we should be signing.

Lets get one thing straight fellow brayfordites, we all know what chance we have of signing him is dont we.Theres going to be championship clubs and even bottom half of prem interested in the beard so lets not get ahead of ourselves. There is that woods from shrewsbury tho who looks like hes going to be a very good player weve got to be looking at more reasonanle targets than brayford as much as it pains me to say it

Reasonable sry

I would have Paynter.......;) Are we only allowed to sign one? Can we not have Brayford and his beard?

Brayford, but only if he keeps his beard.

Coady a close second, just feel that next season he'll be getting better

As great as Brayford is and no doubt I would love for us to sign him permanently, pushed on one I would go with Coady. Young and improving player who I think will turn into an excellent footballer before too long.

I've been really impressed with almost all of Clough's recent signings to be honest but I would be pulling out all the stops to get the two mentioned above.

Why can't we have both? :)

If we are really ambitious we should be trying to get Brayford even if its just for a season loan and sign Coady permanently.

True but for a lad of Brayford's age and ability, a year in this league would be madness. The only hope is that a man with that sort of face fur can't be altogether rational.

I am hoping he is mad as a brush and his beard forces him to stay another season.

Brayford will still b at the lane nex season come what may, because its simple,he just wants to play for cloughie, hes played for him since his Burton Albion youth days, get ready 4 more signings you've never heard of,hes not called non league Nigel for nothing, Dean Moxey,Crystal Palace, Exeter,Ben Pringle,,Rotherham Ilkeston Town, even Will Hughes, Derby,Mickleover Sports, all signed by Non Nigel, and who does the scouting ? Simon Clough,Lee Gregory Halifax looks interesting,Sheffield lad ,good touch and technique, and knows how to finish

I do hope you're right fella. Quite a few on here, for very sound reasons I should add, doubt the possibility of this happening. Of course we'd all be ecstatic if this did happen, but I've no doubt Nigel is doing his best to make this happen. The downside of Brayford's performances since he's been with us is that other clubs will have noticed, so there are many factors that will influence where Brayford is next season. Of course, the club who have him under contract, Cardiff, will have their own thoughts on this matter.
