If we reduce "employment costs" from £77.9m finishing p9, with a chance of CL qualification, to £56.5m and relegated with the one of the worst ever points totals, and so losing out on another £170m , doesn't seem so wise to me.
More like we structured the contracts of the players to reward them handsomely when we did well and not when we were awful. Seems sensible to me, just wait for Fulham and West Brom to announce their wage bills for last season.

Norwich spent £88.9m in 2019/20 to be worse than we were last season.

Darren Smith and we have lined up a new interview to get the details of the latest account release

Why does he have any more insight into the accounts than anyone else who reads what has been published? I know he has previous connections to the Prince, but does he still have some inside info on the club at the moment?

He's an accountant who supports the Blades, that's the reason I asked him last time. Numbers are numbers and he simply breaks them down for us in laymans terms. He's very good at that.

I ran his interview past a couple of people before it aired last time, all of whom had looked at the accounts and they said he was accurate and fair.

He's not involved with the club at all now apparently.

Last thing we need on this forum is someone who knows what he's talking about! 😡
The world's gone mad!!!

Fair enough, I'm an accountant who supports the Blades and he'd probably do a better job than me at explaining them! :)

If he does still have insight into snippets of info I'd be interested on what he thinks the plan is financially at the end of this season if we don't go up.

Really enjoy the interviews on your channel by the way.

Thank you! If you ever want to be on please just ask. I had no idea you were an accountant otherwise I'd happily have asked you.

This information would be amazing if it was cross referenced with the same figures Stoke had a year into their first season back in the champ, referenced against Norwich’s and bmouth from last year, plus wba this year. Some of those have been very successful from that point and some have gone into free fall. Knowing where we stand against those would give a much clearer picture.

These as they are just look like figures to me with nothing to reference them against. And that is really honestly not a criticism towards anyone that has uploaded them, its just, 80 million quid is GREAT unless you’re selling PPE to your private donor friends. And 80m is AWFUL if it’s the amount of people on hold infront or you when you’re trying to make a complaint against Ghostbusters 3 (2016) with the all female cast.

Load of bollocks.
Prince propaganda.
Eat a shit. Maybe...
🤔

One thing these figures do give us is a stronger negotiating hand should any clubs come in for some of our more wanted players.

Clubs will see we're not in a desperate position financially and not try to have us over a barrel knowing we need a quick buck to keep the wolves from the door.

Despite all the horsesh1t on here at times, surprise surprise, looks like we are being run properly.

Perhaps we can have the training ground roof fixed now, although I know roofers are expensive ATM following all the storms.

This is how it should be.

You make profit to then be in a sound position later.

Here we are. No guarantees but there was no fire sale, only a long protracted negotiation for someone who wanted to go and for whom we got what I believe is the best deal we could.

We're in contention. We're only not top two because other previous manager failed to understand the current squad and let's be fair, most were jumping through hoops when Jokanovic was unveiled.

So if there are any failings of the Board, they are failings that you and I would have been just as culpable for. Show me someone saying they were all in on Hecky when Slav was available and in all likelihood I'll show you a liar! Because I would have been one of them. To write the squad off and be pushing for Jokanovic.

For those that say this squad would be miles short then I'd tend to agree. Though two key points:

In April you only have to be better than Forest, Boro, Hudds, Blackburn, Luton etc. The rest is a conundrum for another day.

Even when you do go up, this year you'd have had to be better than 3 from Burnley, Norwich, Watford, Brentford, Leeds and possibly an out sorts Everton.

To me that doesn't seem as scary as some folks worries about getting pasted by City.

Wouldn’t have mattered if we’d spent it, we still wouldn’t have stayed up.
So we went down due to not being good enough the one thing thag would have made us better is new players which costs money. We didn’t even try!

Hold your horses Blades fans the latest from Porktalk (I know its an addiction).

"If it doesn’t include the ramsdale sale it also doesn’t include the effects of relegation to the the championship with players on higher wages than last time they were here"

"What I will say is some of the sensible Blades I know aren’t exactly jumping for joy.. or have any of their fears settled by this"

Come on Sensible Blades who's got a piggy mate ?

I am now off to seek help for my addiction.

To put this a bit more in to perspective Fulham, who came down the same season as us, have posted pre tax losses of £93m!!

They also owe £55m in transfer installments to various clubs.

Appreciate they'll be back earning the big money next year but they're losing that amount even with Premier league money.

We spent almost 120m, most of it very ineffectually.

Would you like us to have risked the club spending another 30m more?

If we had spent that, then where is the next installment of money coming from for Berge's transfer, McBurnie's, Brewster's etc?

You do write some top posts mate - I like reading your stuff. To be honest though - and call it bladey bladey same owd or lack of ambition etc - but I did want Hecky at the end of last season. A Jokanovic whichout riches to spend I feared was too much of a risk for lil' old Sheffield United. Without getting "his" players in I thought it would be a long hard season. I was delighted when Hecky, Jack and Stuart McCall were brought in. With Jokanovic I thought - right manager, wrong time. So let's get back up there (hopefully this season!!!!) doing the things we know and what we were assembled to do. Then evolve in a systematic manner - like Leicester (wishful thinking haha).

This is prime time for annual accounts to come out. So far, with 15 clubs having reported.we are the only team who were in the PL last season to make a profit.

This follows on from the 2019-20 season when we made the largest profit in British (and possibly European) football.

Any chance people can submit questions for you to ask?
