Let's be right, it's the players who have let the fans down consistently through 3/4 different managers.

He seems to have finally accepted that this team needs drastic action and given up defending their pathetic performances and cowardliness. We need to fully support him with this as there's clearly something rotten involving the players down at the Lane.

I said when he signed he needs two seasons and I'll stick by that, regardless of where we end up come May (even relegation). This is going to need a huge rebuilding effort next summer and he's far and away the best qualified man (who we're likely to get) to do it. He needs to start looking at it now.

I've written this season off now and have absolutely no expectations.

Good job then his signings like Sharp, Sammon, Woolford and Hammond are there otherwise I don't know where we'd be.

I've got to the stage of wondering why we keep signing good players on paper, yet when they play for us they underperform or are awful. It has been happening for the last few years. I can only conclude that there's something badly wrong behind the scenes with this group of players and the squad needs purging.

Agree that we have to stick with him and that he has an awful lot of deadwood to clear out who are just stealing a living. My one concern is that his signings have been no better than what we already have. We didn't need Sharp, Done was good enough. Despite being crap in defence we haven't missed Edgar which tells you how good he is. Sammon is a pub player, Hammond is past it and I'm struggling to find a reason why he actually signed Woolford. Not every signing works out but those he's made so far haven't improved us. Worrying times

I echo what's already being said, we need to stick with Adkins. Let him bring in who he wants in January/Summer. If, come this time next season, we're no better off, thing should change.

I also think the board need to have a look at themselves, too. These people make the decision on what manager we bring in and so far, under HRH/McCabe we've had two managers, one go the boot and the other is heading in the same direction if things don't pick up.

Then again, shite only goes in one direction, down.

While people keep making excuses for Adkins along the lines of 'he inherited a poor team' and 'who else would come here?' we'll remain in the shit. Gary Caldwell (Wigan) and Mowbray (Coventry) both inherited poor teams, they've turned it round, recruited well and look likely to be in the Championship next season.

Whatever his past 'successes', Adkins is proving to be a poor, poor manager now.

The blame lies with Players, Manager, Coaches, football/ transfer/ technical comittee and Board.

However, The players have to stand up and be accountable. Where is our captain now? Who is our captain now? JMac? Basham? Collins? Where is the team of leaders that Adkins talked of?

Adkins is far from blameless, he picks the team and gets them coached all week for each and every game.

One thing I'm almost certain on, the players aren't doing what they are asked to do. This was apparent under Clough, he was happy to call out the players not performing. And now it's happening under Adkins, except under Adkins he doesn't call them out, they had their clean slate and they have let him down, big time

Now it's time for Adkins to stop being nice and get them working. If he gets fired, which on current performance wouldn't be too controversial, then he needs to at least go with a fight.

I'm behind Adkins, I want him to have time, but by god he makes it difficult to believe that he's the right man to take us forward

I'm just a bit worried we've bought a damaged man in Adkin's. Couldn't believe we got him but in interviews he looks a broken man with a bag of motivational clichés that are starting to sound like a broken record.
His confidence might have been severely knocked by his poor treatment at Southampton followed by trying to get back on the horse at Reading, failing and going on a world wide find myself tour of sporting methods and systems. Are we the latest attempt at a rehabilitation and comeback?
Worried for the man I am and for the club if he's not hacking it! In his interview he spoke very meaningfully about having to go away and analyse his performance. Worrying times if the manager is the next in the treatment room :(

Good post.
The man's broken, gone, past it, describe it as you wish but his interview last night was that of a defeated man. Believe me there's no way back and giving him more time only delays the inevitable. Analyse Adkins' performance since he joined the club and give me one reason why he should be given more time.

Just worrying that giving him time means another relegation whilst he gets it.

Agreed. In all comps. (League, JPT, Crapital Cup & FA Cup) P- 25, W-10, L-8, D-7 and, in the only stats that matter (League) P-19, W-7, D-5, L-7. Simply not good enough. Poor signings, poor tactics, early exits from all cups (including Oldham next week), not a single positive can be drawn from his time here.

Ok, my first slightly negative on Adkins, we need to make sure 100% that he isn't allowed to give his signings a 3 year deal, none have worked out as yet, not saying they won't in time, but we don't want saddling with his players when he gets the push, and if this form carries on, it's highly likely with our board isn't it, I personally think we need to stick with him, and maybe he's bringing in the old guard from his past to try and have more friends in the dressing room who he can trust, but something isn't right with the players, they are far better than the performances being put in, have we a player revolt on our hands here, a split dressing room, of those who know they're staying, and those marked for the push..

Don't think we will see the best from Adkins until he has a full team of his own players, that'll take another two seasons with our dodgy faxes and selling strategy..maybe a relegation to boot...worrying times indeed..

Any Adkins permanent signings need to be on a one year deal with an option we can take up on a second, then if they try, and work out, and aren't burned out or shot, we can reward them for thier efforts with a decent contract, Hammond is literally sleepwalking into a contract this January, how long it's for is anybody's guess, at the minute, he isn't good enough, fit enough, not just him though, sharps in a poor spell, Sammon inconsistent, Woolford anonymous ...

We can't let him go throwing 3 year deals at his old guard, the key word is old, we clearly need, new, hungry players who want to go somewhere with thier careers, not just see them out at a big club, on decent wages, for an old mate who owes you one....

The players are crap. Adkins is inept.

It's a risk but a major problem we've had for 10 fecking years is stability. It has to change.

Even if it means that the long term plan is beyond Adkins, perhaps a selected man to work with him, Adkins can and will provide the stability.

Sacking Adkins would certainly not guarantee that we weren't relegated

I just dont see how anyone who went last night or to most of the games this season can defend Adkins in the slightest, wanting him to stay is just suicidal. His signings have been terrible, his tactics are terrible, substitutions terrible, motivation terrible, hes lost the dressing room and talks shite.

Why would anyone trust him to sign any more players? If this guy is still here by the opening of the window we're screwed.

Sack the clown now!

I don't get it with this club.
Year on year our best players are sold and we get a bit of cash to get the scraps.
Adkins has proved he can get teams promoted but he joined a club rotten to the core. If he is backed right he will get us back into the championship but then again if the last two managers had been backed we would be in the champ right now.

Worried for the man I am and for the club if he's not hacking it!
