Are we pretending we can get anything other than a defeat at Arsenal or are we just making it a nice round 10 games to minimise any "awww poor Hecky not fair" criticism from pundits when we give him the necessary boot....

Carrick looks a more attractive option now having turned around Boro's slump
Carrick would be my first choice appointment. Can't see him leaving Boro for us in this position though or us paying the compo that Steve Gibson would demand anyway.

Find it pointless to give him an ultimatum. If you’re going to sack him sack him, if you’re going to back him back him.

Pretending it makes a difference if we beat Arsenal is stupid, we could go on to lose against wolves and the cycle starts again.

Feel for hecky. I mean the season has been a disaster and worse than I think most feared. He’s also never done anything to address or remedy the injuries we are picking up in training for the past 2 years - which I feel he deserves a lot of blame for….

But for the talk of 10 games

You can write off the first 2 we were playing with a league 1 side, having sold our best players and made no signings.

Then of that 8 we would have played

Spurs
Arsenal
Man City
Man United
Newcastle.

That’s 5 top 6/7 sides probably come the end of the season. So I’d argue not where the season is won or lost.

But whatever happens now it’s too late. We’ve played 1/4 of the season and have 1 fucking point.

Monty or Carrick
Carrick would be more progressive than Wilder or Warnock, not sure he would be able to turn it around and a real risk he's not much better than what we have, but at least has a style of football, tactically has to be an improvement and will have a good network within the game. I think Monty is far too inexperienced for this, needs at least 4/5 years management before coming to a decent English team. He would crumble here ATM.

'Michael Carrick's Middlesbrough failed to pick up a win in their first seven league games this season, sitting bottom of the Championship.

His side have just registered their sixth consecutive victory to place themselves 7th in the table, now level on points with the play-off places.'

Top manager or footballs just a funny game?

Under Hasenhüttl you would definitely expect a team to press and attack and win back the ball. Southampton have had a good record when it comes to bringing through youngsters too which he did and something we can and should be doing. A big if but the to answer the Op's question I went with Hasenhüttl
Careful mate, I got shot down going for Hessenhuttl, he's my choice, if not get Still in

Hes by far the best option on the list but unfortunately i think he’s outside our price range. His wage at Soton was reported to be x6 what hecky is on now. I would absolutely love it if we could though.

Hasenhuttl ticks all the boxes. Excellent record in the Premiership, proven record of bringing on young players and currently available, so no compensation to pay. Took Southampton over when in the relegation zone and kept them up that season and the following three seasons. Still averaging almost a point per game, when ridiculously sacked. Would be a breath of fresh air and a step forward, not a step backwards to Wilder.

If, as expected, Wilder comes in he's going to be inheriting what is already a threadbare squad and of that squad there will be a fair few players who he won't want because they aren't 'his' players. He brought in about a dozen new players when he took over in the summer of 2016. I just can't see this working out at all. It's got 'disaster' written all over it.

Doomed

Surprised no-one has suggested Duffy as part of a new management team since yesterday 😁

Hecky’s replacement won’t be anyone who 1) is already in a job so their club requires compensation and 2) anyone who wants paying PL wages (ruling out Hasenhüttl).

Never changed my avatar because I bloody knew the messiah was going to come back and save us!

...or maybe I'm just too lazy to change it.
