Radio Sheffield's, Jonathan Buchan, the guy with the flat vowels and seemingly even flatter intellect. I wonder what he is thinking this morning as he looks at the Championship league table and sees Sheffield United sitting on top of the pile?

Remember, this is the guy who has mentioned "relegation", "relegation battle" and "survival" all summer, every time Sheffield United's name came up.

I wonder if he's now in the camp of admitting he got it grossly wrong - or maybe he's in the "bubble will burst soon" camp? Does he still think we are going to get relegated I wonder? Of course, it's still possible that we could - but we won't - and it was NEVER going to be the case.

I think everyone is entitled to their opinions, and opinions differ of course. But what I can't understand is how anyone with any knowledge of the game, could have looked at the Sheffield United team that blasted its way out of League 1 last season, playing a standard of football, way above that of League 1, and tip them to struggle this season? Honestly, I find that incredible. Especially for someone who observes and reports on football for a living. It shows an alarming lack of insight to me.

I'm not saying any of us thought it would be as good a start to a season as this, but I think most "sensible" Blades would have expected us to at the very least hold our own.

It makes it all the sweeter to prove our doubters wrong eh?

I like him, gives a fair assessment of the side when he commentates and never denies his Leeds Roots, but he will no doubt be happy that one of the local sides is playing beautiful attacking and winning football.

Looking at Millwall and Bolton and other sides who've come up in recent years such as Burton, Barnsley etc a sensible prediction wouldve been for us to be in the bottom half.

depends if he saw us play.. it was pretty obvious last season that CW had ‘already’ brought championship quality in..
and anyway RS are tw@ts.. :)

I hardly listen to Radio Sheffield and have no idea who he supports but i did think the same.
And to be fair to him we still could.

This season so far has been bloody unbelievable, i keep thinking its a dream.
he's a leeds fan ironically

Well he won't be happy this morning then. Ha ha. What a season it has been so far. Winning away at the scum and then the dirties. Weve even turned over barmy Bolton and their twat of manager.

I heard Lord Wilder have a little less dig otlr two at little Jonny when he mentioned that we are only trying to survive....after we had smashed yet another team out of the way. It was subtle from CW but it was definately a rebuke for daft little Jonny.

I thought he was an Halifax fan, know he is from Halifax,

Said it loads of times to disparaging rival fans. CW built a Championship team for League One. So I wasn't surprised when we took the Champs like a duck to water.
RS were privy to all this too.

To be fair. I don’t think Wilder built a championship side in league 1. He built a side to win league 1. Which was what was needed and the failing of managers he succeeded.

And to say stuff like I knew we’d be good enough is just crazy talk.

No-one knew. We thought and hoped but you didn’t know. We had a team of untested untried at this level players (or even those that hadn’t performed at this level).

If you knew
Coutts was going to be the best midfielder in the division
Leon was going to be the answer
Brooks was going to come on like he has
Stevens was never going to get beaten (he just doesn’t).
Duffy was going to step up like he has

You’d be working as a scout for Man U.

4th from bottom was the goal. Mid table would have been a good season based on what other promoted teams had done.

I don't think that we have found the games we have played this season in the championship any more difficult than last season in div 1.I understand that we were the big club in the division last season and the opposition often raised their game and we had to work very hard to win games,it wasn't easy.I do not disrespect the teams in div 1 and i don't accept that the championship is La Liga,we are a very good team, with an excellent manager and more than capable of getting the same success as we did last season.

If you’d had said at the beginning of the season “bottom half but you’ll beat the pigs and scum away from home” i’d Have snapped your hand off. To have beaten them both on their patch and be sitting top of the table, we’ll that’s better than a tit wank off Jet from Gladiators.

I've never heard him say he is from Leeds but i don't care really, he's a decent summariser and from memory he said we'd finish about 16th at the end of last season, I don't ever remember him saying we'd be in a relegation battle to be fair.

i can't agree with that .. we were murdering teams last year. we were 'obviously' miles to good for that league.. many of Roys viewfroms confirmed this.. the real skill here was that Wilder and Knill built a team to get us out of d1 and then kick on in the champ without having to do the normal thing of hoof it out of d1 and then 'consolidate' whilst you change the entire makeup of the team once you get out. that is why it took us so long to get out. previous managers couldn't decide which approach to take so we ended up between a rock and a hard place all of the time
