Sheffield United close to permanent deal for Williams

Sheffield United are close to a deal with Reading to sign Marcus Williams on a free transfer in January.

Manager Danny Wilson told BBC Radio Sheffield: "It's a permanent deal."

The 25-year-old's initial loan came to an end this week but Wilson is confident the Royals winger will return to Bramall Lane next month.

"I don't think it's anything to do with ourselves and Reading, it's up to us as a club and his management team to come to some type of agreement," he said

I'd be disappointed with this one. Wilson's sinings have been far from impressive so far. This would add to the "thud" list.

Is it only me that thinks Williams is a decent player? I think he looks a constant threat going forward, is pacey and although his defending is not the best he is certaily compentant. I am quite confused how everybody seems to claim that Taylor will come back and fit straight in and be better than Williams. For one he has been out for a long period of time so may take weeks/months to regain full fitness, and unless I'm imagining things when he was playing week in week out he was slated and was apparently not good enough.

When he first came in, I thought Williams had the attributes to do well. He looked assured, had a good touch and a turn of pace... However, for the last few weeks or so, I think he's been poor.

but saying that, how many slated collins almost all of last season and hes been one of the most consistant performers this season.
tho i admit he hasn't played well recently, but maybe hes been thinking of his future at sufc or the royals, like wilson i'd be willing to give him a little more time but till that point he shows a little more consistancy i'd hold off on peminant deal.

Doubtful that BT can be on the bench when Wilson, if you believe him said he is still bothered with his calf injury making him unable to train.
If he can't train he can't be on the bench.

I'd be concerned if it weren't for the fact he gets paid to play. His weekly wage is nowt until he steps onto the turf. FACT!

no i agree with you.. he knows the postion (in contrast to lowton) and was doing well until the 'misunderstanding' with Long.. now all the crowd are on his back.. at least simmo will be pleased.. the reason our left (and sometimes right if williamson is off) backs look exposed is because they have no cover.. esp. on the left side.. what with quinn's messi style ahem.. 'roaming' (i use the term very loosely)

Williams is alright, I dont undertand the stick he gets.

Always been a decent full back and offers something going forward.

Has had a couple of patchy games yes but apart from that he's been sound imo.

I have been quite impressed with Williams up until about 3 games ago. hes in poor form, but is not suddenly shit.

I don't think he's rubbish. He's OK. I just don't understand why we need a 3rd OK player for that position when we're broke.

I think LJF is OK, with age on his side to get better.

He isn't rubbish. Rubbish can be re-cycled and made into something useful, Williams on the other hand............

Williams to me seems to be OK at defending but offers little to nothing going forward. He has to be told to overlap by the player on the ball which is disappointing.

Lecs can't defend very well but gets forward well. Maybe if we put them in a bag and shook it up we'd get a good 'un - Maybe Andy taylor :-)

Beattie - I'm bored of reading all the posts about him. Who cares what we're paying him? It's not coming out of your pocket so don't let it bother you. Just concentrate on putting petrol in your car and feeding your own kids.

Why doesn't he play? Because he's not fit.

Why isn't he fit? Because he's been injured

Why did we sign him if he wasn't fit? Because when he is fit will be a brilliant signing.

Why did we sign him anyway? Please see Chris Porter.

Hopefully, HOPEFULLY i've answered all your questions now.

Further to this, the shoe with the "L" on it goes on your left foot, the one with the "R" goes on your right. And no, your underpants aren't made by a guy with the same name as you.

Calvin Klein would like to take issue with you on this matter.

Mine say "St Michael". So, they are.....
