Firstly, it was a bad tackle, some (forgiving) refs may have given a yellow, but most I feel would have issued a red, especially if they're looking to even it up, such as our ref today.

Secondly, it has slightly lowered my opinion of Madine. At best it's stupid, at worst it's thuggish.

However, those who are seemingly delighted to use this as a stick to beat him with, or want to "send him back" need to realise something; if we're going to get promoted, we'll need every player, including Madine.

Listening to Wilder's post match, he acknowledges it was a red, and daft but he's clearly not upset with Madine and even points out how gutted and remorseful he is. This is because Wilder's not stupid, he knows how important he is from a tactical perspective.

If we're playing a team with weak centre halves, a team who are sitting deep or when we're under pressure, it's useful to have an aerial threat like Madine.

No, I’d be saying it was a brainless avoidable sending off that seriously damaged our chances of winning. As brainless as Fleck vs Bristol City (a two footed challenge off the ground in a nothing situation), or Doyle vs Fulham (doubly brainless as captain), or Unsworth’s against Watford that contributed to us being smashed at home. They were all utterly brainless. The difference with Madine is having been with us less he’s had less goodwill built up over time. It is such an annoying thing for him to do that having gone some way to win over fans with his contribution since he joined. At a crucial time of the season we now miss him for the Leeds trip, the Bristol City game at home, and the Preston trip. We will be weaker without having him involved in those.

I 2atched a consummate big strikers performance for Bolton against us last season.
I've been very impressed with every performance for us bar one rash moment.
