If you see 3 lads getting stuck into a few tinnies whilst playing poker on the train, one tall with blonde hair (that's me), another heavy set with skin head and the 3rd with a rat tash that hitler would have been proud of; that will be us.

Feel free to join us for a beer and a round of cards to pass the journey.
Sound like a good bunch!

My team for tomorrow

Kenny/Bennett
Bardsley
Cahill
Lucketti
Naysmith
Gillespie
Armstrong
Quinny
Webber
Stead
Beattie

Play Webber behind the two strikers

Come on Blades, make this my first away win :)

UTB

I'd play the same as Tuesday, except bringing in Alan Quinn for Gillespie and Stead in for Shelton if he's out.

agreed, hopefully shelton is fit though as his speed can really hurt teams, he had a good game on tuesday too :D

Todays team..........

Bennett, Naysmith, Bardsley, Beattie, Stead, Webber, A. Quinn, Kilgallon, Tonge, Armstrong, Cahill. Subs: Morgan, Montgomery, Sharp, Gerrard, S. Quinn.

4 points in a week from two away games,

cant grumble really, lets get 6 from the next two home games, and jet us into the top half :D

Can't reaal grumble no. But we didn't make any changes to go for that win, I think Sharp should've been given a chance and maybe Squinny to change things attacking wise

I can't believe how things have changed so rapidly from promotion favourites who were going to storm the division to a team who go to Hull happy to come back with a point. Ok 4 points from 6 away from home ain't bad, considering our form so far, but we should realy be aiming higher.

Listening to Holdsworth made me laugh though. 'Beattie rose like a salmon' is the one that sticks in my mind:D

I was right

I'm fairly happy with a point in the circumstances, we were playing against 14 men at times. Ref was poor today and probably cost us 3 points.

Holdsworth commentary was fantastic

the one I remember when he said Ian ashbee was like a child going into the early learning centre and had no control

Fantastic

true ref was poor

Ie Ashbee doing too stupid tackles in 1 minute and not getting booked

or when he was talking about the referee and said he should be shot

Midfield was pretty decent today, apart from tonge.

There penalty, thought it was a foul on cahill then it looked like there player kicked it out for a throw and ref gave it to them.

I think we were unlucky today as the referee had a shocker. Still not too convincing though i didn't think.

Tonge was abysmal today (and for the Joey fanatics, that isn't a good thing :D ) his passing was poor, no commitment, no headers, but what do we expect from our least consistent performer.

The ref didn't help matters, but whilst he was right to give a penalty as it was a foul, 3 incidents within a 20 second period previous to that went against us, so it shouldn't have even got to the point where a penalty should have come close. At one point Armstrong went for a ball and got close lined, to which the ref chose to "play on" in Hull's advantage, embarrassing to say the least. There was 3 occasions in which Hull players should have got bookings too and he let them off. But when Stead deserved a yellow, he got one. Tonge's yellow was also deserved too, even if their player did make a meal of it. It seemed very biased to be honest, and surprise surprise, no reprocussions will come against this ref. We got one decision our way when BT went to head ball in, it went wide and we got a corner.

If I'm honest Hull were the better side and maybe should have had all 3 points, but the way in which they got their equalizer is highly frustrating.

Hull I've just remembered really is a shit hole.

Also the way in which we were penned in afterwards is understandable with some of the knobs are classed as "fans" these days. What I don't understand is though, why no PA was made to state we would be kept behind.

4 points in 6 is not a bad haul considering, but what is frustrating is poor performances, we wasn't the best side yesterday. And we only just edged it at Leicester in yet another poor performance.

For those who will now turn round and say "if a team can play badly and still get points thats good" well..... we can also still play badly and lose like we have done.

Quite apltly summed up there mate, i was about to post my musings on the game/day but i think you have just about covered the majority of what i was gonna say.

Not a good performance but an improvement, if very gradual, appears to be taking place. We rode our luck and created very little but the deffence looked solid and Benno played well.

Beattie did nothing but was feeding from scraps yet again, our constant long balls were wasted today as he failed to win anything in the air. I couldn't help feeling that Rob Hulse would have been far more effective up top and i think that once he is fit he will be a real asset in these kind of games.

I also thought Stead was our best player and took his goal very well. He seems to possess many attributes of a good attacking midfielder and many attributes of a good striker without filling either role completely.

Last point of note, once again there was no involvement for Billy Sharp and if im honest i do not see how he would fit into this side. I'm starting to doubt whether we will see a decent return on our investment, especially with the impending return of Rob Hulse.

All in all, in a results driven business Robbo has put a good run together. Lets hope that with 2 home games in a week we can but back to back wins and push on up the table.

Thing is though... I could've seen us scraping a 1-0 victory yesterday. Up to the penalty being awarded, the Blades were looking fairly confident and in control... and how many shots did Hull really press Benno with that he didn't look like he could deal with?

So today, with a little perspective, I'm not as disappointed with the performance as I could be. Yeah, it's two points lost, but with the referee being a defining factor in that... something the Blades can do nothing about. A scrappy 1-0 win might have had people thinking slightly differently...

Yeah we could have scrapped a win but on the balance of play i think that a draw was a fair result. While Hull didn't exactly lead a siege on our goal, we scored from practically our only clear chance and Hull looked far more likely to go on and win the game in the 2nd half.

From speaking with people on the way home i don't think the result is what disappointed the majority but rather the sub par performance; more so after half time.

Obviously we won't be suddenly start playing flowing football, dominating games and socring a flurry of goals but the expectation of the majority of blades fans are not being met and patience is starting to run out.

I can see signs of improvement at the back and we are starting to look hard to beat which is a drastic improvement. We need to start creating more chances and stop giving away goals too easily but i'm confident that we are starting to move in the right diretcion.

" we scored from practically our only clear chance "

what about when it was cleared off the line. 2 times if i remember. and alot of attacking play the second half?

Quinn had a good game again.

Granted i consumed a fair amount of alcohol both before and after the game but i can only remember the ball cleared off the line once.

I'm giving you my opinion here, not a break down of the facts. I thought we offered very little going forward in the second half and whilst we may have had a few half chances, we never really looked like scoring.

I remember that Beattie had a good chance when he cut across the deffender rather then going for goal first time but that is the only time actually felt like we were going to score after the break.

Quinn was the standout in the midfield and has played well recently, he offers everthing that Tonge does wth the bonus of actiually having a bit of pace.

Ball played across the box and there defender just scraping it off line, if he hadnt got it BT would have. Bardsley had a shot and it flicked up, someone shot and BT just missed. BT came wide as you say and should have shot. Quinn armstrong and webber had a few shots if i remember correctly. From a corner BT had a header on goal, just missed. Fair few corners won.

So i do think we offered alot going forward. Another day and them chances may have gone in. And i thought we did look like getting another, until there goal, we pressed and was looking for another IMO.

What worries me is, before this game many were saying to drop Keith and Robson did (but only cause his wife is pregnant). Now everyone is on Tonge. Given that Monty has always been a target as a non-skilled player - who the hell is left to make a mid-field?

squinny?

Tonge has been just as bad as keef. Both needed dropping. tonge cant tackle. so its like playing with a man down everytime the opposition is on attack. Look at the penalty he gave away. He cant tackle. He dosent run at people and plays the ball backwards or sideways. At least with the quinns they play with passion and put up more of a fight to win balls and attack.

I totally disagree but the game is about opinioins and mine is no more valid then yours.

We had 1 shot on target all game whilst Hull had 7 but that doesn't tell the whole story i admit.

I don't want to focus on a poor second half from an attacking point of view, i'm happy that we are starting to look solid across the back and we have a decent run of results going. Hopefully we can add a couple of middies and that will help to create more clear cut chances and ultimately help us to compliment a solid deffence with a goal scoring offence.

suppose so, but as you say, you had abit to drink so we would have viewed the game different.

How did Strech play?

Never stopped again and had a decent game. Didn't stand out as much as the last couple, but think he's been excellent in midfield :)

It looked to me we were happy with the point.

People was saying tonge should have been dropped before too....
