In a more positive thread.. How’d you think we’ll be setting up come the first game of the friendlies? Obviously not including the new signings (feel free to predict/make suggestions).

Selles previously played 4-2-2-2 at Southampton, but has played other formations at Reading/Hull.. I can see him opting for the 4-2-2-2 which, whilst attacking, does tend to lead to goals conceded.. (his 4-4 result at Liverpool for example).

This is my predicted line up, not sure on who we’ll opt for in terms of new players.

I'd happily see Souza and Hamer together in the middle. It's harsh on Arblaster, but leaves our bench looking very strong. Either that or we cash in on one of Hamer/Souza.

I’d cash in on Hamer personally. Don’t think his level of fitness will work in Selles team. Souza and Blaster would be a very good midfield. No clue on wingers outside Dolan at Blackburn but think he’s been courted by premier league teams.

I've always rated Poku but think Championship level will be his limit. Dolan has more Premier League potential. That said, sign Poku for free, develop him like we have started to with Burrows and if we do go up and Championship is his limit then we could get a good fee for him. Good business all round. Poku would get bums off seats compared to Dolan. Either would be an upgrade on Brooks at present.

Genuine question, if we start playing with genuine wingers (last season, we had inverted wide players?) does that mean Burrows gets forward less?

It always felt like we had 2 different styles of play for the 2 sides of the pitch, Burrows pressing forward, Gilchrist and Choudrey sitting back.

Burrows whilst half decent, I think his strength is more about pushing forward and does this change with wingers?

Poku I think would be a cracking signing, could possibly play a role in the premier league if we got there. Would be a good option to have Brooks as a back up to with the potential of Brooks kicking on and becoming first choice/back up in the premier league. Poku/Dolan both can play left/right forward so could be a possibility for both to come in as frees. Think it'd make good sense if thats an option.

He’ll have a look at some of the kids in the early friendlies I’d imagine. Good chance for some to impress.

I'd imagine we'd find a way to incorporate Burrows moving up the pitch, to be fair.. he turns into a great left winger on FM24 ;)

About 3 and a half weeks to go before the first friendly against York City (15th July) so a lot could happen in that time, assuming no one leaves or signs by that time (which wouldn't be ideal), might see something like this.

4-2-2-2 (with 2 CAM's instead of wingers)

--------------Cooper
Seriki-Anel*-Robbo-Burrows
----------Souza*--Peck*
----O'Hare-------------Hamer*
----Campbell--------Cannon

Options based on departures (*):
Anel* for Baptiste, Peck* for Arblaster, Souza* for Tom Davies (at the moment), Hamer* for Marsh.

Current linked players who could sign to consider:
Alfie Devine - CM
Ashley Phillips - CB

Also, in regards to our preseason training camp in Girona (6th July?), I reckon this is the list of players who will be going.

*'s next to possible attendees who aren't guaranteed to be going, everyone else in my opinion is guaranteed a place.

GK: Cooper, A Davies, Faxon
RB: Seriki, Shackleton, Curtis, Sachdev*
CB: Anel, Robinson, Baptiste, D Sasnauskas*, M Freckleton*
LB: Burrows, McCallum, RND
CM: Souza, Peck, Arblaster, T Davies, Blacker*
RW: A Brooks, Hampson, Nwachukwu
CAM: Hamer, O'Hare, Marsh
LW: Caceres, Ukaki
ST: Campbell, Moore, Cannon, Oné, J Beattie*

Sachdev* - depends if he's recovered from that injury, does anyone have any idea on his current recovery?

D Sasnauskas, M Freckleton, B Blacker and J Beattie, depends if Selles wants to give them a chance in preseason, maybe to put themselves in the shop window for a loan.

Personally think Brewster will leave (still not signed a new contract), but if he stays he'll be at the preseason camp.

I'd be happy if he scrapped those games for tougher opposition that might give us more of a test.

I would expect the entirety of the friendlies to be used to experiment and build "match fitness" as needed

I think peck pushed further forward would be dangerous

Good news everyone, the owners have invested in a 3D printer.

Team for the pre-season friendlies.

I'm not so sure on that, he can't seem to finish, and to be honest.. I don't think he'll be here as he's apparently wanting to go to the premier league.
