Whilst the concept is great there is a long way to go.
It’s a bit like saying “we have a team and a ground so PL football and Champions League is coming in the near future”, but there again it’s not long since Forest were in the bottom two of the Championship !!

Not really confirmation is it? It just means we have the space to be able to apply for Cat 1 status if we choose to, the bigger issue is the financial side which comes with the extra coaching/staff/etc that comes with being a Cat 1 academy.
Yeah they are just doing it for a laugh...

That said I can't see where this quote comes from originally

Actually just seen the details come from the old ownership not the new ones. So they may change!

Only interesting thing is that they've "begun the tender process". I'm assuming that means getting quotes from development companies or architects etc

Only interesting bit, and that's a stretch:

"Despite a perceived lack of progress at the Dore site, which previously housed the HSBC Sports Ground in one of Sheffield’s most affluent areas, sources have told The Star that work is going on behind the scenes. We understand that United have begun the tender process over the planned buildings on the site and aim to meet potential stakeholders next month."

It is interesting , in that the new owners are taking the necessary next step in progressing this project. They can't realistically be doing more until this next step is completed.

Fair point, but having been involved in tens of tender processes, sometimes starting one wouldn't even be classed a major milestone of the project. It can be just a 'keep certain stakeholders happy' box tick. Show 'progress' to keep the noise down. I'm being cynical without justification, but it gets that way sometimes ;)

Understood. It's hardly a major milestone.
I think they've had their hands pretty full over the last couple of months, getting the deal over the line and then being fully immersed in a very active January transfer window. Seems reasonable to me that they should only now be turning serious attention to this work. I don't blame them for ticking the ' keep certain stakeholders happy' box by releasing this snippet of use....let's face it, keeping us happy is probably among their hardest tasks! 😆

Happy? Happy? This is S2 4SU……..

I understand the owners are planning an amnesty for us to hand-in our pitchforks & torches ...

JJ & MiserableBlader are on the committee for this brave initiative.

One suspects they have a hidden agenda

Well one of them can’t attend a game without holding hands with his mate. (I think that’s right, he mentioned it once).

Wasnt a good move evicting the local teams that play on those pitches for a season where they haven’t done anything with the site. Could have let teams have another year and kept community things running.

Bring back Tony Currie’s football summer camps!

Hoping that this new training ground development really starts to accelerate in the spring and summer. Get it planned well, get it built with modern facilities and if its done well, we have a real asset for the club for many years. It's also the sort of thing that can attract future signings to come to the club. Where it's based is also ideal for our club.

I'm no internet hardman
But I'm also not a liar, like you

Bit thin skinned from someone who can decry Sheffield and Sheffielders non stop, despite being one - and still being here - then gets worked up when the boots on the other foot. FYI it’s not a lie as it was clearly a joke about the only thing you ever post about.

Anyone know if we’ve got or even submitted planning application yet?
Nothing on the planning portal.

I’m sure the club will be working with a planning consultancy first. Might even be the tenders that Danny Hall mentioned. That and architects.
