How many points for autos?

I can see this potentially biting us well and truly on the bum!!
Forget about the two points they've gone
Just another fucking thing to get hysterical about
We are top, battled through a tough period with a threadbare squad but let's focus on any fucking negative we can find
The two points
Wednesday miraculously getting to the play off final
Rhian Brewster
FFS THESE ARE THE GOOD TIMES TRY. AND ENJOY THEM
remember last season when we were getting tonked every week ? We were praying for new owners to come in and for things to change well first thing that needs to change is the doomsday fucking scenario attitude of our fanbase

I'll predict this now. Will be interesting to come back to it

1st. 96
2nd. 93
3rd. 92
4th. 86

Probably the best top 2 race for years

If everyone maintains their current form..

1. Leeds - 95 (2.07 PPG)
2. Blades - 95 (2.11 PPG, -2 pts)
------
3. Burnley - 90 (1.96 PPG)
4. Sunderland - 87 (1.89 PPG)
5. Blackburn - 72 (1.55 PPG)
6. West Brom - 69 (1.52 PPG)

I don't see any reason for Leeds or Burnley's form to significantly tail off.
They've been here before and have the squad depth to sustain the challenge.

Our form could tail off if we don't bring in the required bodies, but things are beginning to look quite positive on that front.
The centre back signing will be absolutely key though.

I still anticipate a Sunderland drop-off at some point but they've strengthened this month and are showing some intent.
I've a feeling they'll go up this year one way or another.

Can't be right we will lose out by two points then lose to Wednesday in the play off final with Rhian Brewster scoring an own goal
I've read it on here about fifty times today

45 points from the last 19 games?

13 W, 6 D, 0 L
14 W, 3 D, 2 L
15 W, 0 D, 4 L.

I just can't see a run of results like the above.
We'd need a lot of things to go right and, historically, we haven't had much luck on the injury front.

The 2nd one, the thing is we have 5 coming in and 5 back from injury, we are doing it with our reserves at the moment.

Glossop finished 6th in div 2 in 1909-10 season. They had a reyt team. 100+ years later and no where near that, who would have thunk it? 🤭
They played in the first division for one season in 1899-1900. I keep reminding Chesterfield fans that only two clubs in Derbyshire have played in the top tier.

91. Only twice in the recent past (last 30 years or so I went back last time I looked) have teams got 90 and not gone up, and never has 91 been insuf

Did the truffle hunters miss out on promotion the first season it was 3 points forra win ?
Found it.... 81/82 season ......

Changing their points total to 3 points for a win they would have finished on 70. So nowhere near the 2 points for a win total.

God this thread is a depressing read
Are you all just broken as people
You would think. Supporting this club was just one long shit experience after another but I seem to. Remember quite a few good times, why can't any of you ??
What the fuck. Is wrong with you.?
It really isn't that deep.
My last comment was clearly tongue in cheek and isn't actually a reflection of my entire life and character.
My first comments were just picking up on something a commentator said which I thought was quite interesting.

Think you need to re read the earlier post 🙄
Yes, apologies I mis-read that.
But the point initially made by the commentator was about 2 points per game. So with 42 games and 3 points for a win then a team would have need to NOT be promoted finishing on 84 points or more. No idea if that happened or not.
When it was said I doubted the validity of it, which is why I made the post and asked the question.

So you’re saying we can’t do that but Burnley & Leeds can
Really????
On form we are better than both those 2 teams, so your argument doesn’t stand scrutiny

Think you've misunderstood.
The post you've quoted is me explaining that I don't think we'll get to 100 points.

I never discussed whether Burnley or Leeds could / would get 100.
In a previous post, I said I see no reason for eithers form to dip... current trajectories take Leeds to 95 & Burnley to 90.

Probably because it's our character trait, The "Eternal pessimists"!

Midweek are the eternal optimists. (Fueled on Deludemol).

statistically no team has failed to get out of the championship with 92 points in a 46 game season

so 93 just to allow a bit of wiggle

55 now means 38 points from remaining games ie 13 wins

Reading this thread with interest I was going to post something statistical then got to this post and gave my head a wobble.

Well said Frank the tank

🎵Win Lose or Draw we’ll still come back for more, its gonna be United all the way🎵

91 is my guess. I had it

Burnley 97
Leeds 90
United 84
Sunderland 83

But that's obviously dependant on the rest of the transfer window and the assumption that even Scott Parker can't stop the Championship equivalent of a PL top 4 squad.

If United get 5 starter level signings in, then I think it's very much game on

We have 19 games left

We are 2nd in the league with 55 points ( including the 2 pts deduction )

We are ( and should ) be in the Premiership next season,

As we are in that position we should expect to win the majority of games in this league, otherwise we have no chance in the Premiership.

And I think we have built a squad to do that ( maybe a couple more needed eventually )

So

Of those 19 games I only see us having 14 games where the win could be dubious

Home to Middlesborough

Home to Leeds

Away to Pigs ??????????

Away to Burnley

Home to Blackburn

There will be hicoughs along the way, but that applies to all clubs Leeds / Sunderland / Burnley included

But that should (in theory ) give us 14 victories as a miimum , which is 42 points

Leaving us on around 97 pts , and that will guarantee promotion

With key players coming back from injury and 4 or 5 quality new players coming in this bodes very well for us, for two reasons. Firstly the extra quality and secondly the extra depth. The quality will mean we having a better chance of winning any tight games. The extra depth means we will be able to rotate more during the run in which in theory should mean we will be less prone to picking up the sort of injuries we have seen - strains etc. It's a virtuous cycle really.
With all that in mind, we should be able to maintain our points run-rate over the next 19 games, give or take. Even if we dropped a couple more points that we have so far, we should still get to a points tally in the low 90s.
