How many chances?!

Unfortunately it was quite awkward for Mousset, as it came from Brewster missing running into the six yard box and putting it wide. THAT was the golden opportunity!!!

Quite unbelievable.

Yep, they’re always tricky those open goals from two yards.

I can’t remember a game when I’ve seen so many gilt edged chances. If we’d scored half of them we would have been 3-1 up.

No confidence in the team and we need to change the system now. 3-4-3 and with Lundstram and Berge in the middle for me. Brewster and Mousset up front, McBurnie works hard but just can’t score.

UTB
Totally agree on the formation. Berge was poor first half but looked much better in that central role. Brewster Burke Moose as the front three.

Just shows what a lot of meaningless cobblers these stats are. Indicative of how, thanks to SKY, US style analysis is polluting our game.
Its not really meaningless though is it? It just shows in stats where we need to improve i.e. finishing chances. We created plenty tonight and could have won comfortably.
I personally don"t get all the clamour to change the formation after a game where we conceded a bit of a fluke goal and could and perhaps should have bagged at least 3.
I'm seeing our performances improving and us starting to see fewer things we need to work on. Get the finishing sorted out and we'll be winning a few, albeit it may now be too late.

McB's shot when the goal was gaping absolutely exemplifies his lack of quality. He was centrally placed with only the GK to beat. He'd taken a touch. But somehow he hits it whilst he's off balance + straight at the GK at the most savable height. The man is a donkey + I've finally given up on him as a striker. He would make a decent CB as he normally clears crosses from our box.
But when he's in mf he heads it straight up into the air or misplaces his pass. And when he's in the final third he looks like he's never scored a goal in his life. There is no placement to beat the GK , he just aims for the GK + usually scuffs his shot with no power. It counts as a shot in target but in truth it hasn't a chance of going in. His headers are worse. A free header today he put straight into the ground instead of the net. I think there is something wrong with his head eye coordination , the number of mistimed headers he makes. And no amount of coaching can solve that. He always loses the physical battle with CB which usually ends up with him fouling the CB. He's always on the ground after going up for a header , appealing to the ref for a non-existent foul. He's the single most frustrating player to watch.
Please please please play any strikers but him.

Watched the extended highlights again and agree, there's a "fuck me" moment in most of our misses. But I did take positives especially as Brewster looked more threatening and Mouss returning. I think we'll start to click soon and this start to the season will be similar to the end of the last.

Watching Jimmy Bullard on is it Soccer Saturday he does? Anyway, even as an old man his form is superb you want to show kids how a ball should be kicked get them watching videos of him. (Maybe old McB might learn something too).
