Reading some of the stuff on here so far, I wonder... if we have a poor start, how long Blacky will get before he's hounded out?

Whatever happens the fans will be more patient with blackie as he knows what the fans expect of the players, unlike robson.

Not a single ball has been kicked of the new season and already people are talking about KB getting the chop!
C'mon Blades, have a little faith and give the guy and a chance - This can be our season!

i cant even believe this is being discussed!

I think it's a logical conclusion from some of the threads I've been reading around...

The abuse is disgusting in some places. All because us know-nowts apparently know best...

I agree s9sufc. We were so underwhelmed by Sornob's appointment, that it was always going to be an uphill struggle in any case, but Blackie has a few months' vast improvement from last season, and the backing of the huge majority of the crowd.

Sornob certainly never had the latter.

A quick look at the relative fixture lists would also bring some reasons for patience too.

Last season, and this season.

Last season, by the Southampton match, I'm not convinced that it was unreasonable for United to have had five wins. Four at least. We had two. And we hadn't played any real heavyweights who'd beaten us in that time. The writing was on the wall, and I still say that he should have gone before the match against Hull.

This year, none of the first five matches look particularly easy (Blackpool away aside, maybe), but a decent run in September and October might make up for any stumbling.

The other thing about Sornob wasn't just the results, but the attitude. The first match against Colchester still makes me have nightmares.

I doubt people will be on Blackie's back that much.

yes its a tough start, but if we are going to get promoted we should be beating our competitors.

No shit, Sherlock :D

My main point is that I doubt there will be the same sort of ill feeling around as there was at the start of last year, so long as the usual moaners realise that we have a tougher start than in previous years.

Ever the optimist.

:D:D:D

No Blade is an optimist. It's not allowed.

yeah, Colchester at home, what an anti climax. after that game there was doom written all over the season.

Exactly. We walked away like we'd lost a £20 and found a penny. Blackie may not have a rising tide of optimism (though I'm much, MUCH, happier than at this time last year), there isn't the stench of death about the place.

And the players seem happier too, from what I've seen.

the players seem alot fitter than last season. its only pre season but sod it :D

three months and i for one will not be happy if we aren't around the play offs after october so blackie should watch is back. We all know what mcCabe was like with robson: his job is safe, three days later and he was gone.
Still bit harsh to talk bout this so soon

I think time and patience is needed. We all saw what happened to an under pressure Robson last season. It's now that we need top start getting behind the manager and squad and show we are United not only as a team but as a club as a whole.

UTB

But you'll give him three months... how generous

We'll end up like Wednesday, I tell thee...

At least a full season.. After The half a season he had last year who knows what blackie can do in a full season ( Lets hope ) ;)

I completely agree as far as this year is concerned. The difference is that when Sornob was appointed last year, we all knew we were dead in the water.

This year could be different.

Sornob's job was safe until it was untenable because King Kev I didn't want to admit to dropping a bollock, and he cost himself/the club a fortune with Sornob.

In the time that we'd come back down from the top flight (the time before in 93/4), there was one year where St David had become utterly disillusioned with what was happening with Brealey, and the like, and one where Heath was a disaster, before Kendall came in to rescue us.

Sornob's reign had all the hallmarks of when Heath was there, but unfortunately changes didn't happen until it was too late.

I can't say I'm optimistic (as I said, it's not a United trait), but I expect us to be around the play-offs, at least. And that's considering this is a bloody hard division.

I certainly expect a proper performance at Hellsbore too, as that was a disgrace last year.

"Just another game"

Twat.

you beat me to it there,

I can understand the point that was being made but three months is in no way defining our season performance. Look at last season, robson was in charge for far longer than three months and then blackie comes in and turns things around.

My opinion he needs at least a full season in charge regardless of the league standing or final position

How long for Blackwell ?

Dont know.............but unless i die i will be a Blade when he has gone.

Hehe! Echoed.

Now the question you have to ask yourself is would Linz like Jose Mourinho sat 10 feet away from her at every home match.

The answer is an unequivocal.... bloody yes please :D

But yeah... I think everyone needs to give Blackwell some time to put his team together. We had a shit start last season and still nearly made the playoffs.

All this "I want success and I want it NOW" stuff is like kids in Tesco kicking up a fuss because they've been told to put the sweeties back on the shelf. Since when have things come easy for the Blades?

If you want a club that buys success... go and watch bloody Chelsea or something. If you want the odd glimmer of happiness amongst years of misery, you're already in the right place.

what can i say other than I concur..........................except the whole mourhino thing although he is a damn good looking bloke and if i were gay i most definately would :D

isn't it shit or bust for us this season. no parachute payments next season so we must get back up or players will be going.

Blackie is nothing like Robson, Robson was a complete an utter tw@t especially towards the fans i was at Worksop for the pre season friendly last year and Robson did not even bother to acknowledge us Blades fans who were applauding him that set the tone for me & alot of others add to that he is one of the most miserable gits i have ever seen.
