How far can Billy climb

Kanes got a very good chance. He's 104 behind Shearers PL record at 28yo. If he gets 20 a season until he's 32/33 he's right on track.
If he goes to Man City he could quite easily get a couple of 30goal seasons.

He also doesn't rely on pace so his age shouldn't affect him

If he signed for Man City he’d only start 20 games a season.

Billy is now in the top 50 all time English league scorers after yesterday.

He has 245 and is joint 49th with Tom “Pongo” Waring, a pre War forward who holds the single season scoring record at Villa, and the recently deceased Ernie Moss, who most Blades who are 40ish or older will probably remember.

In answer to the original op title, depends on how long the ladders are.
🐥
If we continue on like we did yesterday Billy will a shed load of chances, esp if MGW and Berge carry on aging like they did yesterday.

Dont see how Wikipedia can say only...""" x,y and z " are the only midfielders to score 200 goals." Really ? Jackie Sewell always played with a no. 8 on when it was the old W formation. Must have been some more. How many did Hagan get.? Ivor Allchurch is in that list as well.?! Always played in the old no 10 spot.

Hagen got 120 odd for United and I few for Derby.

As that table shows, 200 league goals is really hard to do. Sharp is, I think, the only current player with that many though a few (Rhodes, Akinfenwa) are close.

One more needed to equal a great ex-United striker (or should that be great striker who also played for United).

I still believe Rickie Lambert stole Billy's career. If Southampton had given him a proper chance in the Premier League he would've had an England cap.

Obviously it means he would never have come back to us to do the things he's done, but it's a shame he had to wait until age 33 to get his first goal in the Premier league.

Two points from this.

One, Billy is the only one on that list still playing.
Two, we need to sign someone nicknamed “Pongo”, just for the hell of it.

I don’t think he had enough to his game at that point, and I think he showed it for us to be honest. Never let himself down but never had much of an effect on games, and it’s harder to find those pockets of space against elite level defenders.

He is in that bracket with Nugent and co for me, elite Championship player, with a little bit lacking to become PL quality.
