I'm going to be a bit controversial here ..... I'm not sure he is good enough to be a top, top goalkeeper. He's a big character and with us he's allowed to be. He's obviously very comfortable here, has no real pressure on him from our other goalies, and fits in very nicely with the team spirit and set of lads Wilder has put together. Would he be comfortable playing under the spotlight with 75k fans analysing everything he does, sharing a dressing room with a set of mercenaries who are only out for themselves? I'm not so sure. To further his development he needs to be taken out of his comfort zone and see how he goes on then. I think Man U will recall him and put him on the bench as backup to De Gea so they can get a real close look at him. If they like what they see then De Gea will be on his way and Hendo will be the no 1 in a season or 2.
We'd be near enough 10 points worse off without him!

Hahaha, would have been 5 nil if it wasn't for Henderson tonight

Baffled as to what you were watching. Shite performance but their shots didn’t really trouble Henderson. Any Championship GK would’ve coped due to the fact they were straight at him. Both of their goals he should’ve been doing a lot better. Vardy’s chance hitting the post was horrific positioning on his behalf, he had half the net to pick from. He’s a good GK but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Any other GK it would’ve been the same score line.

Are you seriously saying you think there score would have been 2-0 had Moore played in goal? Hahahaha

No. Moore’s League 1 at best. Throw in Blackman who we had for the season on loan, same outcome. Stop pretending he’s the best thing since sliced bread. He’s not even our player. May as well call it how it is, you’re the type that will say he was shite anyway when he doesn’t come back. Grow up.

You mean Blackman who was on loan at Bristol Rovers in League 1 this season?

Baffled? He made like 3 or 4 good saves. How can you pick out Henderson. Only player tonight that walks away with some credit for me.

Birley Blade you're not allowed to say anything negative on this forum about Dean Henderson, no matter how true it may be 🙄

Which goals do you feel he should have saved?
More his general play, he's knocking balls back out into the 'danger zone' (McNeill should definitely have scored for Burnley), I'm pretty sure he was knocking anything he couldn't hold to the side rather than straight out -and if it's something I know about 'keeping it's pretty basic stuff.

In the Burnley game the wind was near gale force, the shot you’re talking about moved loads, to the point where just getting behind it was good enough. In that instance I’d question why McNeill was beating our defenders to the rebound. I can’t remember much else to blame him for and I’d certainly not use that one game to say that he’s not been the same since lockdown. If it wasn’t for him the game yesterday might well have been a cricket score.

What saves did he make in the game vs Leicester that stood out as being good that you wouldn't expect an average keeper to make?

He did it twice v Burnley, once v Chelsea. Just doesn't look as assured, maybe I'm reading too much into this but he doesn't look as sharp.

I thought all of them were bloody good saves in terms of positioning, presence and that the ball didn't go in our net. Don't think Steve Simonsen would have kept them all out. Then again there is a good argument to suggest he wasn't average.

His positioning was pretty poor on several occasions during the game vs Leicester. As for the saves I wouldn't personally have said any were "bloody good" more routine, in the sense you'd have been very, very disappointed had any keeper not made the save...

On which occasions was his positioning poor? If it had been better we may have lost 5 - 0! I was really chuffed with the saves he made and yep in my book they were even better than 'bloody good'! To say they were 'routine', I have to respectfully disagree. On each save I was yelling in ecstasy in the vein hope that the rest of the team might wake up and actually do something. I really wouldn't have been disappointed if Leicester had scored one of their chances that Hendo against all odds, managed to save. Hendo kept us in the game. However that's just routine for him!

Quite a few and Wilder alluded to that in his interview

I've just watched the highlights again and failed to see him save anything that wasn't hit straight at him, if you're looking for a positive, he was brave to come out and block a shot from close range (if you ignore the fact he need to make the save because he parried it out into the middle of the penalty area which he seems to love doing now)

From the newspaper articles i've read it does come across as though Wilder seems to be more optimistic than last season about getting Hendo back on loan.

There's a skill to making sure shots look routine, Henderson positions himself well and stays on his feet for as long as possible reducing goal space.
The difference between him & Moore in this regard is huge.

If you’re watching games closely you’ll notice that the shots he’s “turned into the middle “ are deliberate as if you’d looked to either side you’d see that’s where most of the players are!!
My take being an ex keeper
