Well done Paul.

Managed to rubbish the notion that you need to exit the cup at the first opportunity if you want to do anything in the league.

Also while I’m sure he’d have loved to bring a couple of players in during the JTW we are now not lumbered with any Geoff Horsfield style “legacy” contracts for next season by making best use of what he had at his disposal.

Thought he was brilliant in the post match Sky interview- comes across as a totally grounded bloke. I just hope he is given the financial support he deserves to build a squad that can compete next season

Anyone got a link to his post match interview? Searched YouTube but can’t find anything on there.

Pound for pound, for me this promotion outranks any other given the circumstances and limitations on finances and resources through injuries, ageing players from the last promotion with some way past their best, loss of form in some cases, lack.of genuine quality in some key positions.I doubt any other manager in this division and many in the PL would have got this team promoted, and some I believe might even have us in a relegation scrap.

I will admit I didn't want him I thought he was a cheap option with a poor managerial record.
Don't agree I wanted him to fail though I would never want United too fail even if Gay Ron Megson was in charge.
I said at the time if I was wrong I would apologise.

WELL I APOLOGISE PAUL I GOT YOU TOTALLY WRONG.
CONGRATULATIONS AND WELL DONE
PAUL, STUART AND JACK AND THE REST OF THE TEAM.
Same here. Definitely didn't want him to fail but I thought he would be a bit of a yes man for the heirarchy at the club. Massively wrong. Picked up the good bits of where wilder left and ran with it as well as inspired signings like amedhodzic and the city lads plus bringing youth through. I hope he's given a chance in the prem.

Hecky is a great student of the game.

I thought that our chance against Man City was his tactical nous against Pep's.

I think it was working but two unforced errors ....

I also think he got to Vincent Kompany. He had Kompany and Burnley sussed and that made the Burnley manager uncomfortable and led to him going over the top about that win at Turf Moor.

Again an error and Hecky was never really given a chance to outsmart the ex-Man City man.

A magnificent achievement bearing in mind all the off field problems. There has been improvement in his tactical nous during games this season. Last season Cooper and Robins had the better of him and it was too easy to blot Norwood out of the game. The decision to go with the youth of Man City over the experience of Fleck and Norwood was game changing and was the main factor in dealing with the little wobble after the Luton game.

PH should be cherished by the Board and rewarded with improved infrastructure at Shirecliffe befitting of an EPL team. This could be crucial in securing new and existing player contracts.

Top moment of the season for me.

Sticking that enormous toffee in his gob just before that press conference and doing the whole thing sounding like he was laying in the bath shouting through a snorkel.

I’ve also found myself saying ‘on the grass’ without sounding like I’m taking the piss.

Hecky has spoken with the board. Says he will speak to Bettis in the morning to make sure he has it right and fully understands exactly what he can do and will then also speak to the players tomorrow

May have one or two grumpy ones on the bus on Thursday !

I'm hoping that it means he's got a reasonable war chest of funds available and is enough to start shaping the squad into a younger mean lean hungry set of players who can compete and give survival a real go next season. I don't think many fans are actually wanting us to spend a lot of money but I do think we are hoping it's enough to let him freshen things up and get us into being a quality championship squad if the worst happens next season. Pay off those debts, get the training ground sorted, and bring in some much needed fresh younger blood and we are in much better position than we were 12 months ago.

I hope we are in better position squad wise in 12 months time, but I think that will also depend on where we see Ndiaye and Berge plying their trade in that time?

I have a feeling the budget isn't going to stretch very far? The only way I see a larger budget is if Ndiyae and Berge leave meaning yes, monies raised goes into the transfer pot, but then we need more players and then of course it's doubtful we will replace that sort of quality, especially where Ndiaye is concerned.

Hecky is going to be juggling those balls this closed season

Maybe but maybe not.
Keep these two and add some younger talented players (not 5/6) and we may survive so that theses two either stay or can be sold for more that they are worth now.
If we go down then these two can be sold and money invested in more younger players, with perhaps one or two experienced ones

How would we sell them if they are out of contract?

Sorry I had assumed that the club would be addressing this during the next few weeks. Perhaps an assumption I should not have made !!
Yeah it would be nice but I doubt they will sign anything we can afford to put in front of them. We just need them to not go AWOL like Lunny did and try and keep us up. "Just" is more a hope as they'll not want any Injuries to scupper their big signing on fees when someone takes the off our hands. The more I think about it the more sense it makes you take what can get for them in the current market with a year on their contracts. Would be less than we'd want but maybe the reality is needs must..

First thing that comes to mind is a/the new owner might want a change. Massive gamble if so.

Weird answer by him tonight on his future. When he was asked about becoming a Premier League manager.

1:05:40 into the vid.

In his RS interview he said he is going to Geneva on Monday to talk summer transfer business. He even admits in this interview they have pre-season planned already.

He said in that same RS interview that… ultimately when I leave Sheffield United it will be because I’ve been sacked and it won’t be because I’m bad, it’s because the other people aren’t as good as me.

I dunno just weird little comments to be saying from a manager that’s just got promotion. It’s like he’s making a point/laying the foundations for something.

Poor fucker deserves the season now if he didn’t before. Got into the ring with 19 boxers with his hands tied behind his back.

What an utter joke of a football club. And if any of you believe the shit they spin this in then you’re just as bad.

He won't get long I'm afraid. Things are going to get a whole lot worse before they get any better
